BrewCrewBall Fantasy Football Championships: Congrats to JEO, Meiz, and the Commish
I'm posting from Milwaukee for the first time ever! It's nice to come up and see family, though I can't find a Grienke Shirsey yet. I am visiting my parents and friends for another day before I fly back down. It's great. Anyway, let's get to the championship games. All three are up in the air:
League 1: LT's 90 v. Crocs 93- My LT's can lock it up with 4 points from Vick tonight. But remember week 3 where Vick put up 2 points after getting hurt. Meiz has a chance, but I'm betting Vick will lead me to a championship and REVENGE for a week 11 loss. Meiz had strong performances from David Buehler, the Ravens D, Owen Daniels, and Roddy White while Matt Cassell led the way with 32. However, his RB corps or Hillis, Tashard Choice, and Chris Johnson combined for 10 points total. I had strong performances from the Law firm of BJGE, DUI Mike Williams, and Rob Gronkowski while being led by Jamal Charles. I was disappointed by the Bears D and Robbie Gould, but I still have Vick going. I stupidly benched Hakeem Nicks and Mike Thomas in favor of Santana Moss, but it looks like I'll survive that. Meiz could have done better with Ronnie Brown and to a lesser extent Felix Jones, but with Vick still going, I don't think it would've mattered. UPDATE: Vick scored 22, I AM THE CHAMPION!!! Final Score: 112-93
League 2: Drank 84 v. Cincy's 74- Jeo's Drank has a 13 point lead over Cincy's, but Leshawn McCoy will decide this championship tonight. Jano, the Lions D, along with Tamme were solid and Big Ben led the way with 22 for the Drank. His problem was his running backs. He has 6 on his roster, but started the wrong 3, as MJD (who was out), Fred Jackson, and Mike Bush combined for 11, while his bench RBs of Brown, Matthews and Barber put up 36. His receiving corps wasn't much better putting up 7. Cincy's was led by Bowe (fantasy comeback POY!) with 21, and solid outings from Greg Jennings, Brees, and Witten. The Chargers D let him down (as they did with their fans as well), as did Matt Bryant, and Rashaad Jennings. If he kept Jennings on the bench and started Kenny Britt or Crabtree (though I can't blame him for not starting Crabtree, he is ass), he would've been in better shape for the title. UPDATE: McCoy scored 8, The DRANK IS THE CHAMPION!!! Final Score 84-79
Power Ranking Tourney: Crocs 93 v. McNairs 81- We've covered the crocs, but Noah(j)'s McNairs has the Philly D left to go tonight. Brady led the way for him, and Blount, Lloyd, and Josh Brown were solid. Kevin Boss, Vjax, and CJ2k were disappointments, but only Mike Thomas could've helped him out. He's got the hardest road to victory of the 3 teams that are down. UPDATE: The Eagles D scored 3. MEIZ IS THE CHAMPION!!! Final Score 93-84
Now it's time for Hyatt's Fantasy Awards:
Fantasy MVP: Arian Foster- You may say, "What about Vick or Rodgers or Brady..." They were all great, but foster was so much better than anyone else at his position, that it was no contest. Vick, Brady, and Rodgers were within a fantasy point or two every week, but Foster scored 70 points more than the next running back. He was almost 6 points a week better than everyone at his position. And for that, he was the Fantasy MVP.
Waiver Pickup(s) of the year: Peyton Hillis, Brandon Lloyd and Mike Vick- These three made teams into contenders/champions. Neither were drafted in either league we did, and only Hillis was drafted in the last few rounds in one league I was in. Hillis was the 2nd highest scoring RB in fantasy, and Vick was a top 3 QB this year. Congrats to all three (EDIT: Noah brought up Lloyd, and I didn't check out the numbers, but he was the top WR this year)
Bust of the year: Randy Moss- This was pretty easy. Came in to the year as the 2nd ranked receiver, finished below Brian Hartline in the 75-80 range. For a guy that wasn't hurt all year long, that's terrible.
All-Pro Team
QB- Vick
RB- Foster, Hillis
WR- Lloyd, Calvin Johnson
Flex- Adrian Peterson
TE- Jason Witten (I give him the nod over Gates since Gates missed the playoffs)
K- David Akers
D- Steelers
All Waiver Team that Crushed Your Team
QB- Vick
RB- Hillis, Mike Tolbert
WR- Lloyd, Steve Johnson
Flex- Deion Branch
TE- Mercedes Lewis
K- Josh Brown
D- Titans
All Bust Team (I do not include guys that lost their season to injury)
QB- Favre
RB- Shonn Greene, Ryan Matthews
WR- Moss, Steve Smith
Flex- Beanie Wells
TE- John Carlson
Kickers are all the same really, as there are few kickers who are taken before the last 2 rounds
D- Minnesota
I just have some random thoughts for you on some random things. I will be researching and posting fantasy rankings for fantasy Baseball soon, and will take part in a Fantasy Baseball party here as well. Though my duties as a father and a breadwinner take precedent, I would love to either take part or run a similar thing here. I would recommend Espin or Yahoo for the leagues since they are free and easy to use.
Also, why are we pumped about the Bucks? This seems like one of their historical let down seasons again. Now with Yung Money/Buck/Whateverhe'sgoingbynow Bjax out, I don't see a reason to follow them from out of town really. That's just me, I'm freely admiting to be a fairweather basketball fan (aka white guy).
Lastly, I haven't had this much fun doing fantasy football in a long time. Admittedly, it is my hobby, and I have done exceptionally well this year. I played in 7 leagues, made the playoffs in 6 (the only exception was the Gulf Coast Oilers), and have all but won 4 championships (depending on tonights results). I want to thank all of you for making this season a blast. All of the smack, the haterade flowing, and the near perfect participation was phenomenal, and is how a fantasy league should be done. If anyone has any suggestions on improvements for next year, I'd love to hear it. Just know I won't do IDPs but would consider PPR rules.
Again, thank you for making this an amazing year.

Thanks for running the show Hyatt
I think your weekly updates and recaps helped keep the participation high. Looking forward to my championship tonight and celebrating a great season.

a labor of love is not a labor at all
I appreciate Kyle letting us get away with some of the things we said on here. I’m pretty sure telling a guy to “eat a bowl of AIDS” is outside the bcb code of conduct
thank you for the kind words

I stand corrected
lloyd was the top receiver. Though I hate the broncos for SB 32. So he’s tied in there.

Or if you want to, Hyatt. Or if you want to collaborate. Whatever works.
i'd love to collaborate with you as you did a phenomenal job last year

Great job Hyatt!
You did an amazing job and way over what a first-time participant (here at least) could possibly expect.
I look forward to next year (if there’s football) and maybe not dipping my finger into the soup as often as I did this season. :)
Thank you a million times over. :)

"Dipping my finger into the soup"
Is that a phrase meaning “to suck like Suppan”?

One could make that connection...
yes…:)
