I just got it from a very good source that the Brewers are not looking to trade CF Lorenzo Cain. They'll listen but don't want to move him.
...
Sometimes Winter Meetings become semantics. #Brewers not "looking to move" Cain. But they were not "looking to move" Lawrie either.

Damn, just when I was starting to get all warm and fuzzy about the Cain for Beachy rumors.

Most interesting part come from Tom H's blog:
This is not to say the Brewers wouldn’t trade Cain. It would just have to be a blockbuster, a la Zach Greinke. And, speaking of Greinke, that same very good source told me the Brewers made two attempts already to trade for the KC ace but the price was way too high — far beyond Brett Lawrie. That’s when they refocused on Toronto’s Shaun Marcum and sent Lawrie there.

I like this move.
KC’s looking for a name/reputation premium on Greinke, while Toronto had no such requirement for Marcum. Smart play by the Moustache.

Plus
Lawrie is probably slightly more valuable to Toronto than anyone else due to the fact that he is some sort of Canadian Super Hero.

My tought was
upon hearing they were open to trading Cain, that they might move Fielder and Cain in a blockbuster pitching deal for someone young and cheap.
With Fielder’s salary moved, that would potentially open them up to sign Carl Crawford – I realize he projects as more of a corner OF, but he has CF experience and one hell of a bat. Obviously I haven’t crunched the numbers, but I drooled a little at the idea.
No way.
After the deal that Werth signed I don’t think it would be possible to sign Crawford for less than 100mil. And he has said that he prefers to play left field. So to sign him we would probably have to offer up a ridiculous Werth like deal and I for one want no part of that. If we’re gonna spend over 100 million dollars we might as well try to sign Cliff Lee.
