Prince strikes out his old man.
I found this video on youtube awhile back. Not sure if you guys have seen it but thought it was worth the post. It's a McDonalds commercial of a young Prince Fielder throwing fastballs by his old man. This video makes me wonder how many triple cheese burgers Cecil Fielder took down in his day? If I was a betting man I'd have to vote in the triple digits. Why doesn't McDonalds make a comeback with the Triple burger? Two patties just doesn't seem to be enough.

Neat find
This clip does make me sad though, to think about what happened with their relationship.

actually
i think they dubbed cecil’s line. instead of him saying “i’m going to take your money”, they dubbed in “i’m going to take you deep.”
"Makes me sad" pretty much sums up my reaction as well.
It’s pretty cool to see, but in light of what’s happened since there is a bit of the maudlin to it, isn’t there?

Weird break on that ball...
Looks more like a gyroball.
I wonder if Prince would’ve made a decent pitcher.
He may have been using the Blitz Ball...

Nice one
I don’t even remember that commercial. Funny, it seems like Cecil is actually on the thin side.
When was the last time you think someone said that about Cecil?
"I held it like and egg...? I know he scrambled the son of a bitch!"
Cecil wasn't that fat until he got older...

It's kind of neat to see that Prince's smile looked the same then though, isn't it?

I'll bet JJ Hardy wishes he could buy a triple.

I remember reading about young Prince...
right around the same time as this ad. My old man and I used to do baseball trips to different stadiums, and when we were at old Tigers Stadium, I can recall reading an article in the scorebook about Cecil and his then-7year old son Prince. It sticks out in my mind for two reasons: I had never encountered the first name of “Prince” before, and likewise the word “heft”. The article stated, “Prince is 7 years old, but heft enough to pass for 12…” It quoted Cecil as saying he liked how his teammates rough-housed with young Prince because it “toughened him up.” Imagine my surprise about 10 or so years later when my beloved Brewers drafted some kid out of Florida named…..Prince Fielder. I have searched high and low for that scorebook, but I’m afraid it’s lost for the ages, and you will all just have to rely on my memory.
I remember 13 yo Prince....
