Community Projections: Third Base
I'm a little behind schedule today so I'm not going to do anything fancy. I'll add up first and second base projections and post them tomorrow. Here's your basics:
CHONE: .264/.326/.412
ZiPS: .263/.316/.397
CHONE: .261/.331/.422
ZiPS: .239/.312/.382
There's a box for Counsell in the form as well, and other (which would encompass Joe Inglett). I'm really interested to see these two projections.

This is a tough one to project
Casey McGehee: .290/.335/.430

Casey McGehee at 80%
Mat Gamel at 10%
Craig Counsell at 5%
Other at 5%
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
McGehee .278/.331/.410 60%
Gamel .280/.326/.425 25%
Counsell 7%
Other 8%

Can I ask how you got to .280?
Thats higher then he hit in AAA, and he looked pretty lost last year. Just curious.

Kid can rake.
He’s gonna have a good year. If you can’t tell by my sig, I’m kind of a fan.

Furthermore
He had a rough year last year, but I think it was an off year. He hit .329 in AA. There’s really 2 camps on Gamel. Some think last season was when he showed his true colors. Others think he just underperformed. I’m in the latter camp.

I'm in same boat to an extent
If he preforms in spring training I’d love to see him play 40% depending on how McGehee does. .280 would be great, I’m nervous about the offense this year.

The word I never want to see associated with Mat Gamel is
Platoon.

I'd recommend he watch Hamburger Hill
If he’s looking for a good Vietnam movie.

I would have said Full Metal Jacket
Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.
How about
Apocalypse Now, or Casualties of War…both great Vietnam flicks…
"I held it like and egg...? I know he scrambled the son of a bitch!"
I'll pass on Apocalypse Now
Merely because the book that it is based on is infinitely better, and provides me with a nice screen name at this here website.

And lower than any average he had before last year at any level
E: George 4 (5, throw, throw, throw, throw).
McGehee:
.268/.338/.408 80%
Gamel:
.275/.340/.435 4%
Counsell: 10%
Other: 6%

i'm about in line with your projections
except for playing time. though macha seemed fine to let gamel rot on the bench last year, i have a feeling there’s gonna be something from above that’ll either move him entirely or sell high still on mcgehee.

Why would they do either?
They can just send him down to AAA for the season.
Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.
Not going to ride the pine
I’m thinking 4% as a September call-up when the Brewers are trying to audition guys for next year.
This is where roguejim will say “do you think they should even bother playing the games?”

Gamel
I don’t remember my exact numbers, but I assumed Gamel would struggle again in limited playing time.
I’m hoping that they will keep him in AAA for most of the year so he can get his confidence back and then call him up late in the season to play fairly regularly.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
I hope they start him somewhere
They did Gamel a bid disservice last year only playing him part time. Keeping him in AAA most of the year would gain a year of service time, which would suck for Gamel. Gamel as a backup in the majors would be a huge mistake
Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.
If you hit the back button, the form reloads with the numbers you put in.

As much as I like Gamel
…I think we’re going to see a frustrating “meh” battle at 3rd this year. And it’s going to hurt Gamel, because I think he needs a chance to establish rhythm.
