Brewers claim RHP Marco Estrada from Nats
First thought: At least it's not Johnny.
Second thought: Really, we're claiming pitchers the Nationals don't want?
Tim Dillard DFA'd to make room on the 40-man.
John Sickels rated him #19 among Nats prospects, noting he had "no evidence to support" the idea that Estrada would have a good 2010 season. Check out his splits for more lack of evidence.

More pitching?
John Sickels ranked him as the #19 prospect in the Nationals organization though:
19) Marco Estrada, RHP, Grade C: I have no actual evidence to support this, but I keep thinking he could have a surprisingly good season in 2010. Nothing left to prove in Triple-A.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
Oops, sorry
I see you already added that the original post.

Sickels' book says:
He throws 87-92 with a decent breaking ball and change. It then goes on to elaborate a lot on the “I don’t know why I like this guy, but I like him” train of thought.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.
In fairness to Melvin
It’s not like the Nationals are particularly well run.

That would be a nice find, that guy would never be on anyone's radar. Strasburg? Who would want that guy?
"I held it like and egg...? I know he scrambled the son of a bitch!"
Perhaps more to the point
when you get down to C/C+ relievers in their mid-20s, there’s going to be some difference of opinion. The guy has a low ceiling, but a slight difference of opinion is the difference between “worth a spot on the 40” and not. We’ve also picked up guys from the Orioles and Pirates in recent years.
Anyhow, I was just making the obvious joke, not meaning to criticize :).
Also, cheese.

Looking at his splits prompts one question
How many minor league teams can one organization go through? In four years Estrada pitched in A-ball in two different cities and the same thing in AAA. They’re going thru minor league affiliates like Steinbrenner went thru managers.

He has two options remaining
So he can always prove he has nothing left to prove in AAA. It’s not like Dillard had or has much of a future with the team anyway.
The fact that it was Dillard makes this a good move to me.
You’re getting a pitcher that presumably does something well, and all you had to do was expose Tim Dillard to waivers to do so? Go for it.

McCalvy's Twitter post
Sheds some light on why they picked him up:
#Brewers picked up Estrada from @Nationals based on a strong recommendation from new Triple-A @NashvilleSounds pitching coach Rich Gale.
Get a ife broseph
Estrada is worth much more than Suppan.

Worth more on the field
Suppans def worth about 44 million dollars more then Estrada in the real world. ;)
wonder how long before 73 is taken.
