In the bottom of the eighth inning of Mexico's game against Venezuela, Cruz slid awkwardly into second base, taking the base across his shin.
He had to be helped off the field, and was replaced defensively in the ninth.

Nothing to worry about yet
If it really was “helped off the field,” that’s not as worrisome as “carted off the field,” but it’s still not good. I’m sure we’ll hear more in the weeks to come.
As insensitive as it is...
Why do we really care? This guy has pretty much a 0% chance of contributing to the ML team. Counsell is a better option should Escobar go down.
Well, he is a member of the 40 man roster.
He’s probably the least valuable member, but a member nonetheless.
If nothing else, it’s potentially an injury that could impact Nashville.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.
And so the impact rating scale of "Luis Cruz to Hank Williams" was born.

He's back in the starting lineup today. I know you all care.
