Vote in the first Brew Crew Ball Tracking Poll

With the 2010 season almost upon us, it's time to unveil a new BCB feature: The Community Opinion Tracking Poll. Twice during spring training and each Monday during the season, we'll post a new poll with approximately ten questions. Seven of them will be the same each time, with the rest changing from week to week to cover issues that come up as the season goes along. This poll will allow us to track reader opinions as they change throughout the season, to watch for trends and see if things change over time.

Take a moment to follow the jump and vote in the poll below, and I'll post the results tomorrow. I tried this once (in 2008), but via the magic of Google Forms it's easier than ever to cast your vote and get your voice heard.

By the by, this is an excellent idea.

I hope we actually stick with it.

Yeah, well, sometimes I drink.

It's much easier now than it used to be

Back in 2008 when I tried it the first time, writing and promoting a poll were a major time suck.

I taught myself to use Google forms and produced this one in roughly an hour. And I can watch the results drift in in real time, effectively eliminating anything productive I might have done this afternoon.

That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.

Getting the pulse of the BCB nation

I like it.

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

I, for one, would be willing to do some of the analysis on the data.

Sounds like fun.

two things

the submit button is cut off magically
secondly, for the first question, I probably won’t attend any games in milwaukee, but I might catch them on the road (Philly, Pit, NY, or if they magically play in Baltimore)

So…should I be putting in an estimation for road games attended?

by PagsBrewCrew on Mar 1, 2010 12:39 PM CST reply actions

I'm going to count away/spring training

edit me to none if you don’t want that counted.

by PagsBrewCrew on Mar 1, 2010 1:01 PM CST up reply actions

No, that's what I had in mind

I’m also guessing that outlying fans attending road games are a small enough portion of the population that it won’t have a major effect on the data.

Weird

On my computer (w/ Firefox) it works fine.

yeah, yeah, yeah

the ever present IE sux post

so not true on about 1/2 the sites I go to. and neutral just about everywhere else (except here).

by PagsBrewCrew on Mar 1, 2010 5:07 PM CST up reply actions

Actually benchmark tests show some websites take 2-3 times longer to load in IE than firefox.

And Firefox is still slower than Chrome or Opera, just not nearly as noticably.

They look okay, they just take longer to load

I can agree to that.

Firefox is good on every site I go to

Why would you be satisfied with half? And I don’t know how people function without Adblock.

firefox

for one throws alt image tags onto the plain text clipboard if you highlight across a picture.

That’s one thing I don’t tolerate.

by PagsBrewCrew on Mar 1, 2010 7:15 PM CST up reply actions

My friends use Safari and I told them to download Adblock for Safari

They responded “But I already have an adblocker. It’s for pop-ups right?”

“No, it blocks all the banner ads and crap on the sides”

“Oh, those don’t bother me.”

“They would if you lived without them for as many years as I have.”

ClickToFlash

ClickToFlash does the same thing. It blocks flash content from loading automatically. Instead it shows a grey box with FLASH in the center. When you click on the box, the flash loads.

you can add sites to a “whitelist” by right clicking. I use it and love it, considering Flash is such a resource hog.

Chrome supports adblock

You should jump into the sandbox pool. I’m 100% Chrome now, only found one site that didn’t work in chrome. 100/100 Acid is nice!

Does it keep changing the layout here from wide to narrow?

Same question for any other browser. I find that annoying.

by TheJay on Mar 2, 2010 5:21 AM CST up reply actions

Yeah this is gonna drive me nuts, I noticed it right away

Hopefully they get that fixed quickly.

At least I can vote from home.

If you're that bored

See if you can name the five Brewers who have ever led the league in doubles. Give yourself three minutes and pretend it’s a sporcle. ;)

HOW DO I KNOW THIS?!?

Pedro Garcia.

How the heck do you lead the league with 32 doubles???

Kudos

1973 Pedro Garcia (32)

I knew the answer and I’m still saying ‘who?’

by nullacct on Mar 1, 2010 3:52 PM CST up reply actions

Check out his stats line that season...

.245/.296/.395

BTW – That was his rookie year and his best season by far in his short MLB career.

Good reason why not many people know who he was.

by sjlee on Mar 1, 2010 3:57 PM CST up reply actions

I’m becoming a bigger and bigger Pedro Garcia fan. He seems to pop up on every third of these obscure Brewers history quizzes.

Ryan Braun: He loves it.

Should have asked

if people were going to attend more, fewer or the same number of games as last year.

Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.

by cooper82 on Mar 1, 2010 2:08 PM CST reply actions

That's a good question

For me.. more. Due to spring training, 2 road trips. Planning on hitting up mid 60s during the regular season.

by SgtClueLs on Mar 1, 2010 11:09 PM CST up reply actions

How about

a question on whether we should sign Prince to a long-term deal? That would be interesting to track throughout the season.
Good idea on the poll!

Q: Did you ever scout Corey Hart? What seems to be holding him back from being a good hitter for AVG?

A: The slider away. And that facial hair.
