BCB Fantasy Update - Positions
Let me again shamelessly advertise for the partnership between CBSsports.com and SBNation, allowing all of you to have the opportunity to purchase a brand spankin' new CBSsports.com Fantasy Baseball Commissioner League FOR HALF OFF! That's $90 compared to $180, a ninety dollar savings! Amazing!
But wait, there's more! I have since been informed that, ver batim, "SBN will spring for a blog-branded shirt for the winner of any league that signs up through" the link. Hear that? All you have to do is click this here pretty link that is so very memorizing and tempting to click on oh god you know you want to click it so bad just give in to your temptations why bother trying to fight it. That's in addition to getting a fantastically customizable, super-duper award-winning, comes with a 14-day free trial before you have to pay for the league. Really. It's that stupendous.
Anyway, actual BCB league fantasy stuff is right after the jump, assuring that this post doesn't take up the entire front page.
If you made it this far, you probably either are part of the league, have some sort of interest in our secret club, or got lost.
Firstly: CBS league, sjlee has got it so that all of you can (hopefully) set your own team names and pictures and all that fun stuff. Thanks to him for being so nice and helping me figure that out. Also in that league, mnbrewer have you gotten in invitation for it yet? If not, I can make it resend.
Remember the drafts are set for Sunday, March 28 at 6:00 central time (for the CBS league) and Wednesday, March 31 at 6:30 central time (Yahoo! league).
Now that that's out of the way, an update on roster limits and points:
As far as points, it's going to be pretty straightforward. Roto style, pretty basic roster limits, snake draft with no value attached to any of the players. The draft orders are going to be random. CBS league, don't bother with that email that you got with the draft order. It's going to be reset randomly the day of the draft because I am trying to keep everything constant between the two leagues. Yahoo! doesn't know their order until then, so neither do you. Right now I have it set so that everyone gets 120 seconds to make a pick or it is autodrafted. Is two minutes too long, or is it OK where it's at?
The categories for scoring are as follows:
Pitchers - Wins, Saves, ERA, WHIP,Walks, and Strikeouts
Hitters - AVG, homeruns, RBI, Stolen Bases, Runs scored, and OPS
And how the rosters are going to shake out:
1 catcher
1 First baseman
1 Second baseman
1 Shortstop
1 Third Baseman
3 Outfielders (doesn't matter which field they play in)
2 Utility spots
6 Starting Pitchers
4 Relieving Pitchers
5 Bench players
for a grand total of
25 players
Does anybody have any problems with how it's shaking out right now? Suggestions? Ridicule? Smack-talk?

As far as pitchers
I’ve usually done it where there are 3SP spots, 3RP spots, and 4 P spots that could be starters or relievers. I liked it because it allowed some flexibility, but I’m fine with whatever.
I’d prefer 60 or 90 seconds per pick, otherwise it can drag on.
I was going to do that with the pitchers.
Unfortunately, cbs only allows you to choose between just a certain number of pitchers, with no limitations on RP or SP or you can set a certain amount for both with no generic pitcher spots. And like I said, I want to keep all the variables like that as constant as possible. If people would prefer, I can just make it so you have a certain amount of pitchers, without a required amount of RP or SP.
And, yeah, right now I think I am going to change it to 60 seconds per pick. Especially with several people who will inevitably not make it to the draft, two minutes is really long.
90!
Yeah, well, sometimes I drink.

I’m going with “Yar’s Marauders” Pirates and Buccaneers already exist, and at this point are associated with losing.
