Random Spring Training Observations from Brewer Fan Trainwreck:
■ it was nice to see Guilder Rodriguez getting some Cactus League Play. He is a guy I met back in 2004 when I interned with the Beloit Snappers. Guilder is in Rangers camp and is a from Texas. Like me, he is a Cowboys fan.
■ In the game today, Jim Edmonds couldn’t even hit the cut off man on a throw after he made the catch.
■ Doug Melvin said on the radio broadcast he may be looking for an extra left handed reliever. Interesting considering Parra and Narveson are on the team, and we just released one. Also, Brian Shouse is available after being cut loose by the Red Sox.
■ Baseball Players are superstitious. I don’t know if Rickie Weeks will finally have a breakout year, but he definitely seems to be REALLY comfortable and enjoying himself since he went with the long dreadlock look. Stay Tuned
■ Ben Sheets is no longer on the club, but Corey Hart is filling in admirably in his place as the club nail biter on the bench.
■ Adam Stern has seen a fair share of playing time this spring. Casey McGehee’s knees are “fine.” Should we read ANYTHING into the fact that Stern came into the game to run for Casey then? I am telling you Casey will go down with an injury at some point. If that happens, its paging Counsell, Inglett or Heether…
■ Treanor apparently had a chance to get a job over in Texas. Is that why he was observed standing in the dugout all by himself swinging a bat when the game was one strike away from being over? 2 Catchers saw action today for the Rangers and he was not one of them.
■ After what I saw today, I am liking the Wolf signing. I like the way he goes about his work and he looks like a great addition.
■ Yep still think giving up Nelson Cruz so we could get Kevin Mench and Laynce Nix was pretty nuts.
■ Mike Maddux has a solid staff to work with in Texas. Only one starter is 30. The rest are 27, 28, 29 and 24. They aren’t all young but they all have plenty of good years left.

My thoughts exactly.
At least before Heether.
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, "That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Edmonds
Was showing off his arm the week we were down in ST. Made some amazing one hop throws from center to the catcher. It’s not all doom and gloom.
Points
Edmonds – What was the scenario when Edmonds was throwing the ball after making the catch? Was there anyone on base? Was there any need for him to make a strong throw to the cut-off man? If not, there’s no reason to do much more than roll the ball to the infield… particularly in ST.
Stern – Just because he came in to PR for McGehee doesn’t mean anything. They’ve used PRs for Escobar and Weeks during ST games.
Cruz – For starters, the Brewers traded him and El Caballo to the Rangers for Cordero, Mench, Nix and Julian Cordero. In hindsight, it looks like an unfair trade, but prior to the trade, Cruz had good stats in Triple-A, but comparable to Hart. He really didn’t start to tear it up until 2008… almost two years after the trade.
