According to KFFL.com, the Phillies are reportedly looking for starting pitching depth. Of the top 6 candidates for the Phillies rotation that mlb.com lists, three are lefties. This rotation includes Halladay, Hamels, Blanton, Happ, Moyer and Kendrick.
Enter Righty Jeff Suppan. Lets do it! Lets get something in a trade from the team that beat us in the playoffs and signed former Brewer Geoff Jenkins! I have no idea what the Phillies would give us in a trade, but I do know they may be looking for someone to give them relief pitcher depth as well with Brad Lidge recovering from two surgeries. As much as I hate to say it, since I know the guy, I think Tim Dillard would be a good option for the Phillies. He can start if they needed him to and he is a big dude who can throw hard if they needed him in later innings to help fill the Lidge void.
I also think Narveson and Parra won't be dealt because we need to keep the "depth" and they are under team control for a while.
What could the Phillies give us in return? I think they got the cash to help with Suppan's contract. The idea of striking something up should at least be explored.
