Yuck
"If we want to sign a Type A free agent, we would lose a second-round pick, but we don't have a way to get picks back. Our whole Draft process needs to be redone."
~Doug Melvin
Fact Check: There are 30 MLB teams.
Applying Simpsons and Star Wars quotes to Brewers discussions since 2009.
you're forgetting the Expos
and the Oilers

This stat doesn't mean anything.
Unless all the teams were starting from the same spot, which they weren’t. I’ll bet the top 4 is different pretty much every year.
Also, some TVM margin should be incorporated.

I agree...
… unless our free agent acquisitions suck, in which case, the amount of money the Brewers spent might matter a great deal to Attanasio, and Melvin. I think Melvin’s on shorter leash than it might appear.
What begins in fear usually ends in folly.

Yeah, this stat doesn't mean anything unless it's compared to how much payroll came off from the year before.
Basically, the stat should be biggest rise in payroll if you wanna take anything away from it.

That's my bad on the 32, my mind was on football today I guess.
I realize that this list doesn’t mean much of anything, I just enjoy seeing the Brewers towards the top of any list. It’s also nice to see that a “small market” team is right up there with the big boys. Am I in love with all the money spent? Not exactly, I like our pick ups, but I think we overspent a bit for some second to third tier talent. Either way, I like our “all in” approach, and appreciate the jobs Melvin and Attansio are doing to try and bring us to higher ground.
