I'd have to look back to game 1 from last year
But the record might be 2.

I thought we might have had 3 for the first spring training game
but I’m probably wrong
Wasn't a huge knock on Gomez that he hits way too many lazy fly balls?
And both of his ABs have been exactly that?
How far will this one fly?
Agreed.
He had two strikes on all the batters he faced, if I remember correctly. Not even counting the balls, thats double what gameday says.
How far will this one fly?
I'm pretty sure ST Gameday only shows the final pitch of ABs.

except for walks and K's
it shows 4 balls or 3 strikes.
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, "That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
It must just be the way MLB Gameday updates then.
They must only list the out pitches in the pitch count, because right now it says bottom of the 2nd and Jeff Suppan has thrown 3 pitches.
by KittenMittons on Mar 4, 2010 2:42 PM CST up reply actions
He threw more than 3 balls to the plate.
However, MLB only recognizes 3 of them as meeting the defining criterion of a “pitch”. It’s actually being quite generous.

they might have skipped the unimportant stuff like the rest of the pitches

“What’s up with all these signs at the ballpark about goggles?” or better yet, playing the clip before his AB.
Applying Simpsons and Star Wars quotes to Brewers discussions since 2009.
To be fair though.
Even if he’s just a crazy free-swinger at the dish, maybe the goggles can help his defense. If the ball is blurry at 60 ft. 6 in. then I imagine the 200+ ft away fly ball must not have been too clear.
Applying Simpsons and Star Wars quotes to Brewers discussions since 2009.
Good point
That might explain a few of his misplays last season. In fact, I was at one game last season where he had to dive at a routine fly ball at the last minute.
It's the new goggles
He can actually see that there was a pitch coming instead of waiting to hear the ball hit the catcher’s mitt.

The pressure from media images of thin guys made him need to lose weight. You were beautiful just the way you were, Corey!
I thought it was more impressive that he gained the weight last offseason than that he lost it this one

XM Channel 185
I was surprised to find it is the Brewers feed on XM 185. So, for those who subscribe, fire it up.
Grrrrrrr.
They really need to stop boning us Sirius subs & get the MLB games on there, not just Home Plate. You can get NFL games on XM now.
I agree but its cheaper to just get the app for the phone
$15 and I can have my audio anywhere I am.
$15 > $0
The portability is nice but I I don’t want to pay for it when it should already be included with something else I’m paying for.
You can?

And his agent.
My guess it that the Brewers were only willing to up to the $1-1.5M mark at this point in time.
I doubt they would have gone that high.
This isn’t arbitration.
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, "That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
I predicted $500k earlier today.
Fielder got $650k after hitting 50 home runs – Gallardo wasn’t going to get close to that.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.
Somehow I thought Fielder got more than that
Ryan Howard got $900k IIRC in his last year of renewal.
Actually it was $670k
And there’s no way Gallardo would come close to hitting 50 HRs… at least not with the number of ABs he gets.

Gerut making his case for the RF job
I can see him getting alot of playing time if Hart starts off slow.
Not just on one game
but just in general I think that after last season Hart might be under a bit more pressure for his position.
I doubt it.
Hart is the Brewers starter in RF… even if he struggles. If anything, the Brewers might decide to trade him if they decide to move Gamel to RF, but I don’t think they see Gerut as anything more than a 4th OF.

Maybe it's personal opinion, but...
Schoeneweis has no business being on the team, i have no desire for him to make it whatsoever. Even with the fastball strikeout.
How far will this one fly?
Pretty much agreed.
If they decide to go with a second lefty in the pen, I’d rather have Lofgren, Narveson and Braddock, in that order.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.
Any reason you're so high on Lofgren? his ML stats don't seem all that impressive.
not that i’m deep diving or anything.
Shruggity
Well, if you're going on upside
I think he’s got more than Schoeneweis.
That aside, he’s a big, physical lefty who throws hard and could develop into a starter. And if he doesn’t make the team, you have to give him back for next to nothing. So I’d rather keep the lottery ticket and stash him in the bullpen than the guy who’s old and may not even be league average.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.
Ok
In regards to Narveson, I’d put it relatively even. Lofgren has more upside, Narveson is moderately closer to proven.
As for Braddock – he’s got roughly 30 career innings above A ball.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.
Agreed with KL here.
I’d much rather give the above three a chance, and let Scotty just do his own thing. Unless he can manage to be entirely unhittable, I prefer the young guns.

I was left somewhat under whelmed by the Schoenweis signing aswell
I don’t see how he is better than who is already on the team.

Hmmm...
Someone needs to figure out stats.
Team LOB is different than individual LOB. If a runner is on third base and gets stranded after two batters come up, then it counts as 1 team LOB, while each of the two batters will get 1 LOB. You can’t count the same runner multiple times.
That's not a good thing.
That’s a problem the Brewers have had the past couple seasons… leaving too many men stranded.
Well history suggests
That a team that leaves lots of runners stranded is a victim of bad luck more than anything else…that said, I haven’t looked at the numbers, but I actually don’t think the Crew was any worse than average at that, at least last year…
Brewers Baseball and other assorted nonsense (mostly the assorted nonsense) at my blog, What's a Tararrel?
