Wasn't a huge knock on Gomez that he hits way too many lazy fly balls?

And both of his ABs have been exactly that?

Agreed.

He had two strikes on all the batters he faced, if I remember correctly. Not even counting the balls, thats double what gameday says.

It must just be the way MLB Gameday updates then.

They must only list the out pitches in the pitch count, because right now it says bottom of the 2nd and Jeff Suppan has thrown 3 pitches.

by KittenMittons on Mar 4, 2010 2:42 PM CST up reply actions

He threw more than 3 balls to the plate.

However, MLB only recognizes 3 of them as meeting the defining criterion of a “pitch”. It’s actually being quite generous.

Fielder got $650k after hitting 50 home runs – Gallardo wasn’t going to get close to that.

Ryan Howard got $900k IIRC in his last year of renewal.

by Saltire on Mar 4, 2010 3:17 PM CST up reply actions

And there’s no way Gallardo would come close to hitting 50 HRs… at least not with the number of ABs he gets.

Hart is the Brewers starter in RF… even if he struggles. If anything, the Brewers might decide to trade him if they decide to move Gamel to RF, but I don’t think they see Gerut as anything more than a 4th OF.

If they decide to go with a second lefty in the pen, I’d rather have Lofgren, Narveson and Braddock, in that order.

by Rendezvous on Mar 4, 2010 3:26 PM CST up reply actions

Well, if you're going on upside

I think he’s got more than Schoeneweis.

That aside, he’s a big, physical lefty who throws hard and could develop into a starter. And if he doesn’t make the team, you have to give him back for next to nothing. So I’d rather keep the lottery ticket and stash him in the bullpen than the guy who’s old and may not even be league average.

That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.

by Kyle Lobner on Mar 4, 2010 3:26 PM CST up reply actions

Ok

In regards to Narveson, I’d put it relatively even. Lofgren has more upside, Narveson is moderately closer to proven.

As for Braddock – he’s got roughly 30 career innings above A ball.

Hmmm...

Someone needs to figure out stats.

Team LOB is different than individual LOB. If a runner is on third base and gets stranded after two batters come up, then it counts as 1 team LOB, while each of the two batters will get 1 LOB. You can’t count the same runner multiple times.

by sjlee on Mar 4, 2010 3:28 PM CST up reply actions

That's not a good thing.

That’s a problem the Brewers have had the past couple seasons… leaving too many men stranded.

by sjlee on Mar 4, 2010 3:25 PM CST up reply actions

That a team that leaves lots of runners stranded is a victim of bad luck more than anything else…that said, I haven’t looked at the numbers, but I actually don’t think the Crew was any worse than average at that, at least last year…

I give up on Firefox

GameDay is all screwed up looking… players’ pictures cutoff, scroll area doesn’t scroll all the way… had the same problems last season too.

I’m going to take a break and install Chrome now.

I like Chrome a lot

only problem is it has problem with playing some media, like espn360

by theBrouhaha on Mar 4, 2010 3:49 PM CST up reply actions

Ok...

Where’s the Home button in Chrome?

by sjlee on Mar 4, 2010 3:51 PM CST up reply actions

Weird.

I just finished installing it at work and I see it now, but at home for some reason that button is missing.

by sjlee on Mar 4, 2010 3:54 PM CST up reply actions

Hmmm...

I’ll have to see if I accidentally turned it off at home. Thanks.

I know

I have it at home, but I was willing to still give Firefox a chance at work.

I used Chrome for about two weeks

But it always seemed to struggle with Gmail and Google Reader (strangely), and I use those a lot, so I went back to Firefox.

It's been a few months.

I still have Chrome on my Netbook, but went back to Firefox on my laptop.

But no adblock plus (to my knowledge).

And no Ubiquity. Not many people use it, but I find it helpful.

Firefox Add-on

Wikipedia
Basically, I can highlight a word, type “DEF” and it will look up the definition without opening a new tab. You can also search google, yahoo, amazon, youtube, and google maps. Real convenient to highlight an address and just type “map” and it’s there in google maps.

However, it is not updated to work with 3.6

John Axford is the master of unlikely situations.

Final game of last season, he picked up a save after Trevor Hoffman blew one.
First game of spring training, he blew a save for Jeff Suppan.

He's getting nickeled and dimed to death.

I was operating under the assumption that the Brewers would hold the lead until the ninth so Ryan Rohlinger could hit another walkoff home run.

Ueck's tendency to prefer storytelling over game-narrating really shows in spring training.

No one told prince the “little trip” was a secret:

@Haudricourt: Prince Fielder just told me that Brewers met with agent Scott Boras on Wednesday to discuss extension. Said no offer was made.

It's spring training for everyone.

Gorman was good about laying on the couch so I could work until now, but he’s getting restless. He’s picking up toys out of his box and bringing them to me one at a time, hoping he can find one I want to play with.
