Around SBN: Are The Orioles Bad Or Unlucky With Their Young Pitching?

Brewers 12 Giants 1; Rockies 8 Brewers 6

Brewers 12 Giants 1

The Brewers (Hart, Escobar, Braun, Errecart and Komastu) took Giants pitchers deep 5 times this afternoon. The Brewers slugged out 12 hits, while our pitchers strategically distributed 8 Giants hits, and 2 BBs allowing only 1 Giant to cross the plate. Probably more encouraging than the Brewers hitting display today, was the successful performance of Chris Capuano. Capuano who was single-handedly responsible for 50 or 60 consecutive Brewer losses a couple of seasons ago, threw 2 scoreless innings (2H 3K 0BB) earning the win today, on his journey back to the majors.

WP Capuano (1-0)
LP Hack (0-1)
HRs Hart, Escobar, Braun, Errecart, Komastu

Pitchers: Wolf (2IP 1H 0BB 2K), Capuano (2IP 2H 3K 0BB), Loe (2IP, 3H, 1BB, 1K), Halama (2IP 2H 0BB 1K), Vargas (1IP 0H 0BB 2K).

Rockies 8 Brewers 6

In Tucson the Brewers didn't fare as well, losing 8-6 to the Rockies. Reliever AJ Murray, gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th, to seal the Brewers fate this afternoon. Chris Narveson and Chuck Lofgren no-hit the Rockies for the first three innings, however the next 3 Brewer pitchers managed to give up 11 hits and 8 runs over the next 5 innings. Jody Gerut went 2-3 with a double, triple and stolen base.

WP Baker (1-0)
LP Murray (0-1)
No Brewer HRs
Pitchers: Narveson (2IP 0H 1BB 0K), Lofgren (1IP 0H 0K 0BB), Rivas (2IP, 3H, 0BB, 0K), Periard (2IP 6H 0BB 1K), Murray (1IP 2H 1BB 0K)

The question now

is whether the Brewers can get 4 left-handed pitchers into the rotation at some point during the season. Go Capuano!

If he does make the team

I’m guessing he’d probably be put into the bullpen… like Vargas.

Yay for Capuano!

I have a soft spot for guys who struggle with injuries. It was great to see that he did well today.

She isn't crazy, she's just not impressed.
Oh, and could you get Mike Adams for the bullpen, please?
