So they have

Schoenweis, Hall, and Cameron. They are trying to replicate the Rays plan to dominate the AL East by signing former Brewers.

Q: Did you ever scout Corey Hart? What seems to be holding him back from being a good hitter for AVG?

A: The slider away. And that facial hair.

good for him

he obviously didn’t deserve a spot on our roster judging by his lack of ST success, but I was pulling for him.

with all the guy’s been through I’m glad he found a home, at least for now.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Doug!

May I steal that for my avatar picture?

It is 110% awesome.

Good luck to him

He wouldn’t have fit here anyway, he couldn’t wear #60.

Failure is just success rounded down.

the Sox don't have Chris Narveson

that’s yr answer.

More seriously, I’m assuming that the Sox felt more comfortable having another lefty other than Hideki Okajima in the bullpen and Dustin Richardson just isn’t ready yet. Richardson is still on the 40-man but he got sent to minor league camp about a week ago. Alan Embree got his butt kicked in a game a few days back and he’s seriously not ready, and Schoeneweis is ready to head north and back up Okajima now.

For a AAA team, sure. RT @Justink8996: @keithlaw what is your Outlook on Naverson? Is he a legit 4-5?

But he's going to be in the bullpen

You know, same as Schoeneweis—that competition wasn’t for the rotation, it was for the non-Stetter lefty in the bullpen. Narveson won that competition, but Schoeneweis just won the non-Okajima competition for Boston.

I take this to mean the Brewers pitching is better than the Red Sox.

Don’t try to convince me otherwise.

I agree

It’s the ONLY logical conclusion.

On a more serious note, this is why players go to a team’s camp even if the chance of making that team is low, right? He may have been a bit upset by the (obvious) decision to release him, but without the Brewers would he have gotten the job with the Red Sox? Not likely. Nice guy and I wish him luck, but hope he realizes that the Brewers gave him an opportunity.

by ecocd on Apr 2, 2010 7:11 AM CDT up reply actions

Probably more like a good PR move.

I think his last outing was the only outing he’s had with the Sox where he didn’t give up any runs.

by sjlee on Apr 2, 2010 9:54 AM CDT up reply actions

Actually, I think the Brewers bullpen IS better than the Red Sox bullpen

But I think the Sawx have at least a slight advantage in starting pitching.

Why sign Schoenweiss but release Shouse?

by roguejim on Apr 2, 2010 8:40 AM CDT reply actions

i dunno

we should show the xos and to the opposite (typo not intended, but I found it appropriate after typing)

by PagsBrewCrew on Apr 2, 2010 8:53 AM CDT up reply actions

to = do

that typo was even less intended

by PagsBrewCrew on Apr 2, 2010 8:53 AM CDT up reply actions

Not likely

But I guess not impossible. He’s younger, I guess.

Clarification:

I’d rather have Schoeneweis than Shouse.

by Mykenk on Apr 2, 2010 11:28 AM CDT up reply actions

lets agree to disagree there

But maybe Macha and Melvin don’t want Shouse back because Shouse cost Yost his job back in the day, and they don’t want to be the next on the chopping block.

by PagsBrewCrew on Apr 2, 2010 2:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Possibly.

It’s more likely that their bullpen is old enough. And good enough.
