SBNation Coverage
Hey look, we lost again.
Dave Bush pitched reasonably well tonight, going six innings and allowing three runs. He did, however, walk 4 Phillies and allow 9 hits. A very typical Dave Bush start.
The Brewers really couldn't solve Cole Hamels tonight; I seem to remember a lot of pop-ups. Hamels held the Crew scoreless for the first 5 innings before giving up back-to-back solo home runs to Casey McGehee and Corey Hart. Overall, scoring opportunities were few and far between tonight. Corey Hart was about five feet away from a grand slam in the first inning and Casey McGehee grounded into a double play with two on and nobody out in the eighth inning. That's about it.
But you know what, gang, small victories. The bullpen did not implode tonight. Mitch Setter and Trevor Hoffman each pitched scoreless innings and Todd coffey and Carlos Villanueva would have pitched a scoreless inning if not for a wild pitch by Villanueva.
Join us again tomorrow as the Brewers take on the suddenly first place Reds at 6:10.

Like i said,
at least it was something different.
I'm not arguing, I'm just offering a relentlessly contrarian point of view.
Winning would be something different as well
Well, there’s always tomorrow, right? Still solidly 2 games above the Astros. Go Crew!
1 for 3 and a BB
from the 2 hole. Not too bad, although I wasn’t able to watch any PA but the BB for Escobar. It was a nice BB, if you ask me.

The easiest reason I can think of for firing Macha
Is that you don’t even need a manager to play .400 baseball.

I was at the game, my first game of the year.
We were really disappointed to see the game didn’t even draw 40,000 fans, not even with the draw of the Hank Aaron bobble head.
Macha really doesn’t have a clue on how to manage a bullpen. How soon before he’s shown the door?
I was at the game, as well, and
even considering the Hank Aaron bobble head give-away, I thought the crowd was fairly large, given the Brewers’ inability to win at home. At least this game was competitive…

37,000 is pretty good for a Sunday night crowd when a lot of people still have school.
I am pretty happy to actually get a bobblehead though. I didn’t even know it was a giveaway day.

Bad Luck?
this can’t be bad luck when is the last time we were swept in a 6 game homestand? I believe this was the first time we were swept by the braves as well. I am at a loss of ideas on what this club can do to get out of this slump. Well at least it can’t really get any worse.
FEAR THE DEER!!! but not til next year =(

I guess they go back into the normal rotation so whoever was after Bush last time.
Since they had a day off everyone can continue giong in their normal order without to much disruption.
Perhaps that will give Parra enough time to get ready for an extended outing and start in davis’ spot next time around.
Assuming they just move everybody up one start Gallardo would be next in line, yes. But since Davis is going to miss multiple starts at the very least, they might slot whoever his temporary replacement is in to keep the rest of the rotation on their regular schedule.
Probably Parra or (sigh…) Suppan. Doesn’t look like it will be Estrada since Stern already claimed Davis’ spot on the roster.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
They'll need a starter Tuesday to avoid starting Wolf on 3 days
E: George 4 (5, throw, throw, throw, throw).
Dear Mark,
Please fire Macha. If only to give me some temporary hope.
Thanks,
Z
should’ve kept him in a utility roll

1994 Brewers?
I hate to be all gloom and doom here, but every day that this team goes out there I think more and more that I am back in 1993/1994. I am rooting for a team that I think should be winning and was recently successful, but they seem to be flushing it down the toilet…
They can’t pitch and they might have one or two guys every night that actually hit.
After this weekend, it might be time to can the season, put Parra in the rotation (if he can’t swim now, he might as well drown), and put the big man on the trading block (hopefully getting next year’s 3-4 starter (with #2 upside) and others).
This comment is also in Monday’s frosty mug. If you would like to discuss, please go there.
