Star-divide

The last time Randy Wolf (2-1, 3.34) pitched, the Brewers lost at home to the Pirates for the first time in 23 games.  That loss wasn't Wolf's fault, though, as he went eight strong innings and gave up just two earned runs before Trevor Hoffman blew the game.  Wolf's FIP is almost a run higher than his ERA, at 4.26, which is right at his career average.  He has faced three current Padres at least ten times.

Player PA Slash Line
Adrian Gonzalez 18 .353/.389/.353
David Eckstein 14 .167/.231/.167
Scott Hairston 10 .200/.200/.400

He'll be opposed by Jon Garland (2-2, 2.57) who's ERA is misleading.  His FIP is two runs higher at 4.65 and is giving up nearly 5 walks per nine innings with a WHIP of 1.43.  He has also faced three Brewers at least ten times.

Player PA Slash Line
Gregg Zaun 28 .407/.429/.444
Jody Gerut 23 .273/.304/.545
Joe Inglett 11 .300/.364/.300

And the Brewers lineup today:
2B Weeks
SS Counsell
LF Braun
1B Fielder
3B McGehee
CF Gerut
RF Inglett
C Kottaras
LHP Wolf

Craig Counsell is still starting at SS and Joe Inglett gets his first start in the OF since joining the Brewers.

Considering his injury history, Weeks would seem to need it the most.

Well, Weeks' injuries haven't really been over-use injuries,

Then Macha should be dragged into Melvin’s office. There’s no excuse to play CC that often and hurt the development of a prospect in this instance.

I'm loving the Texas Leaguers pitch f/x tool lately.

Look at Manny Parra’s called strike zone, and tell me he’s not getting jobbed:

9 balls called inside the strike zone, 3 called strikes out of the zone. On the other hand, Mariano Rivera has 8/6:

Conspiracy!

“The term “Internet meme” refers to a catchphrase or concept that spreads rapidly from person to person via the Internet, largely through Internet-based email, blogs, forums, social networking sites and instant messaging. The term derives from the original concept of memes, although it has come to refer to a much more narrowly-defined category of cultural information"

That's exactly it.

They really do have brooms. And they have hoops, as well. I have no idea how the snitch works.

I often watched them while waiting at the bus stop.

I think they only do it in fall, though, as I haven’t seen them since the weather got nice again.

Modern day LARPers

Be afraid

They do that at one of the parks by Mendota, I'm told, on nice days.

One of these days I’m going to pop some corn and go watch.

This level of nerdity didn't exist when I was in college

Or, if it did, people hid it much better.

It is entertaining to see, though, you have to admit.

I can't help but feel embarassed FOR them.

Pretty much

And there’s a really fast person running around pretending to be a snitch and you’re supposed to catch.

My goodness.

Come on

That can’t possibly be true. I really hope they have to dress up in gold with a pair of wings on as well…!

Sadly

It’s is true. I just looked it up… it’s called “Muggle Quidditch”.

It appears Doug Fister is no-hitting the Rangers through 5 in Seattle

Perfect gaming.

I'm not arguing, I'm just offering a relentlessly contrarian point of view.

Good, the Texas bats need to show up

Wilson is pitching for me.

Doh

Ran to the store and we are now down 2. Make that 3.

That seems insurmountable with the way our offense is hitting. I miss the days of scoring 20 runs.

That homer by S. Hairston was off a pretty bad fastball by Wolf.

That pitch isn’t good enough to come up and in like he wants to. Needs to keep it down.

Not like Braun should have gotten that last HR

but if they do trade Prince I’m all for moving braun to 1B

I don't see it.
