The Brewers win! Really! The losing stops at 9!
Chris Narveson got knocked around a bit in his 35-pitch first inning but he calmed down to throw the next five innings without giving up a run. He was awfully low on strikeouts tonight, but he did the job. John Axford came in during the 7th and only allowed one baserunner (via walk) in the next two innings. He was blowing it by them, striking out 2.
The Brewers scored their runs early. In the 2nd inning, the baserunners started with a walk to Casey McGehee, followed by a Corey Hart triple and a groundout by Gregg Zaun. Sadly, Zaun was removed with an injury (either induced by the ball hitting his hands, or a pre-existing shoulder problem.) More runs were scored in the 4th, with Paul Maholm walking more and then getting into trouble on extra-base hits and groundouts. As I said in the game preview, Maholm's BB/9 is definitely up in 2010.
