Zaun Has Torn Labrum in Right Shoulder.
Tom H. tweets that it's a 50-50 proposition whether the Triple G will play again this year.

Here's Adam's take

Also says will consider retirement if surgery is needed. Terrible news for le cru.
Shruggity.
Bummer.
Well I guess Lucroy is getting some Major League training this year. Either that or Melvin trades Vargs or Suppon for a below average catcher
"Cubs suck. I own them" -Doug Davis
I kinda hope he does.
Either split Geo & Jean-Luc 50/50, or sign someone and get Jean-Luc in AAA playing 90% of the time.
Shruggity.
I don't think being in a platoon would seriously affect Lucroy's development
It’s different than when a non-catcher position player like Gamel is forced to sit for weeks at a time.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
Yikes
Good thing the Brewers have Kottaras/Lucroy.
Best of luck to GGG, hopefully this doesn’t end his career.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
In the JS article
He sounded pretty bummed / Not optimistic at all.
"Cubs suck. I own them" -Doug Davis
yeah
that sounds like a pretty despondent interview
Too close for missiles, I’m switching to Ueck.
that sucks
I was becoming a Zaunbie.
In any case, this opens the door for Loe or Cappy to make the squad, but we’re left pretty shallow in the backup catcher department. I guess that’s why Counsell was warming up Villy yesterday :(
Hope we don’t trade the world for another catcher – it couldn’t hurt to have Lawrie take a couple games behind the plate at AA or something.
Maybe that Salome clown
will get his head out of his ass and realize playing a game for a living doesn’t really suck.
Shruggity.
yeah...
i was discounting him with my comment above. If Salome decides to get HHOHA, it’ll be good for both his development as well as the club.

Maybe I missed this:
has there been confirmation that this is a HITA situation, and not something more serious?
SRS BSNS
Or he just doesn't want to be a professional baseball player anymore
Which is a valid decision.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
Coach on BF.net said Salome is taking medication for mental issues and is in EST playing right now. Not a huge fan of the name calling or tone of some of the above, but whatever.
Get a ife broseph
Just about to say this
After I read Mykenk’s initial comment, but you said it first.
I get this is a blog and anything goes, but depression and/or mental illness are a lot more serious and complex than having one’s head up one’s ass.

I've had my HUMA before
so I think I’m qualified to use that language.

Cincinnati can't want that much for Corky Miller
Pull the trigger!
Failure is just success rounded down.
the only Corky I know of
is the guy from the 80s TV show. I don’t think he’d make for a good catcher.

I have liked Corky Miller ever since he went 1 for 59 in the majors from 2003 to 2007
Failure is just success rounded down.
I can't believe he played with that for 6 weeks.
Or that he managed to limit the number of throws he airmailed or spiked to the few that happened early in the year. Poor guy.
Assuming, of course, that the tear actually occurred back when he first hurt his shoulder.
As much as I’ve been ripping him (and I still think he deserves it), I’d be a lot more worried if Kottaras wasn’t around. Of course, being 9 games under already kind of takes the edge off virtually any bad news.
What begins in fear usually ends in folly.

He told Tom H. he wasn't sure when the tear happened.
But I agree: he’s a ****ing warrior if that happened six weeks ago.
SRS BSNS
Maybe that's why he couldn't throw the ball back to the mound a couple weeks ago
Failure is just success rounded down.
it couldn't have been too serious 6 weeks ago, then
i tore my rotator cuff and dislocated my labrum several years ago. i could function on a day-to-day basis, but couldn’t raise my arm over my head without severe pain. i didn’t try to throw, but can’t imagine that i would have been able to get anything on it if i did try. that was on my throwing shoulder and took a pretty long time to heal. i still have to stretch a lot before throwing, though it did heal well enough. if i actively worked my shoulder often, i’m sure it would be as strong, if not stronger.
i think mark ellis tore his labrum and it took over a year for him to get back.

Can the moderators institute a rule?
First person to mention A.J. Pierzynski (besides right there) gets permanently banned
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
I wonder if anyone in OV has mentioned hometown hero Vinny Rottino
Failure is just success rounded down.
Speaking of heroes..
Dave Nilsson is only 40 years old. WHY NOT?!

Wow
That puts Zaun’s extreme oldness in perspective.

I totally called this
Actually, not really.
Good luck to you GGG!

Just so we are clear...
we DONT want Jason Kendall back… Right?

Ned Yost couldn't let him go, could he?
Applying Simpsons and Star Wars quotes to Brewers discussions since 2009.
only if they throw yost in too, right???
Too close for missiles, I’m switching to Ueck.
Poor guy, his playing career is probably over
Nothing left for a broken catcher to do but manage the Brewers I guess
Gameday program cover curse?
Gregg Zaun is on the cover of the Gameday program for the Houston series. Coincidence?
You've got a couple screws missin' up in your toolbox, if you think that you'll stop this man from hittin' moonshots.
