SBNation coverage
This game felt, to me, a lot less close than it actually was. Dave Bush had his now-typical problem of running up the count. Despite that, all the runs he gave up were after an Alcides Escobar error in the 1st. Marco Estrada's run was also a result of an error by Rickie Weeks.
On the other hand, Weeks made up for it by being patient enough at the bottom of the 10th to let Matt Lindstrom walk him, resulting in the win. Yup, we had a good ol' walkoff walk at Miller Park this lovely afternoon. Alcides Escobar, Carlos Gomez, and Casey McGehee also had a standout day at the plate.

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
Did the Brewers won a series?

Jeff Suppan: Captain Bok, that is a great question. Does "Bok" mean Book of Knowledge? My favorite thing about Milwaukee are the Brewers.

I was there when Damian Miller had one against the Cubs
Not sure if there has been one since
Get a ife broseph
Indeed
Miller’s walk-off walk on May 4, 2005, was the last one in Brewers history.
The others in franchise history:
May 10, 1997 (Jose Valentin)
April 17, 1997 (John Jaha)
August 15, 1979 (Gorman Thomas)
May 3, 1979 (Cecil Cooper)
May 6, 1978 (Gorman Thomas)
September 30, 1977 (Jim Gantner)
June 1, 1972 (Rick Auerbach)
July 18, 1969 (Steve Hovley)
Cooper’s walk in 1979 came immediately after Gorman Thomas walked with the bases loaded.

Has he actually played any games in the past month? His accountant is going to be one very unhappy person next April.
“So when did you start earning your big league pay check? Wait, you just gave me 6 dates. What do you mean you ‘kept getting called up’? I quit.”
I'm pretty much the opposite of an accountant
But if I have my math right, every day on 25-man gets him $2,325 in salary. Probably makes up for the packing and unpacking.

and seem to do pretty well. The one week we tried a regular grocery store we paid like 118 for the same amount of food.

Yeah, if you're spending $40 a week on produce, you're doing it wrong
Even if you’re a vegetarian.
http://www.mlbsoup.com
okay...perhaps that was a slight exaggeration
but yeah, we spend about $90/wk for the two of us now that I don’t eat out every lunch. When I did, our grocery bill was like $75, but you can tack on almost $10 a day to that

FWIW, Bill Michaels is reporting that a rumor came to him.
The Brewers offered Prince $150 Million and Boras shot it down VERY quickly.
Emphasis on the fact that it’s a rumor, but he’s not gonna mention it on the air if he doesn’t have some faith in the source. He didn’t say how many years the deal was for.
http://www.mlbsoup.com
It's safe to assume it's 7 or 8 years, yes?
6 years makes it $25 million / year and no agent in their right mind would turn down $25 million / year.
He would if he thought he could get $25M/yr for a longer period
Like the 8-yr/$200M figure we heard earlier.
It’s also very possible that Fielder is ready to move on… so even if the Brewers offer a comparable offer, they would still reject it.
I feel really ignorant right now, but
Who’s Bill Michaels? Has he been right on this kind of stuff before?
by Cheeseandcorn on May 27, 2010 10:37 PM CDT up reply actions
I have no idea if he's been right on this kind of stuff before, but he's definitely got connections
and he’s been doing his job long enough at a high enough level that he knows when his rumor is coming from a credible source, and when he should ignore it. Like I said, if he’s reporting it on the air, and he talked about it pretty extensivelly, even taking quite a few calls on it, he must have faith in his source.
http://www.mlbsoup.com
Brewers have nothing to gain from trying to resign Prince right now
Either 1) he asks for Ryan Howard money, in which case the Brewers can’t afford him*, or 2) he continues to have a down season (by Prince Fielder standards) and can’t get away with asking for Ryan Howard money anymore, in which case they can try to sign him long term for less during the off-season.
Given the possibility of the latter, I’m beginning to suspect they won’t try and trade him this season (unfortunately?)
- - Actually they can, but that’s a large enough demand that they can get away with claiming they couldn’t afford it.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
Anyone see Prince's final AB in regulation?
Swung at a ball literally over his head for a third strike…
And the final AB when he gave the bat a serious flourish and savoring his shot way back…to the warning track for an out?
And that RISP and the OPS for the season? Come on, guy!
Hard to be thinking Ryan Howard money now.
"When you really, really break it down the only numbers that count is how many runs you help (produce) and how many runs you save. There’s really not a number for that." --Casey McGehee

Even if he finishes with a down season
I think Boras will still keep the price tag high. In reality, a down season would maybe come into play during arbitration. There’s probably a few teams out there that’ll be willing to pay Fielder Howard money with the expectation that he’ll pick it up the following season.
re that Nitkowski tweet
probably going to show up in the Mug tomorrow, but Rob Neyer elaborates on it via more tweets: Lilly’s foot wasn’t on the rubber.
