SBNation Coverage
This game was very enjoyable. For a while.
Chris Narveson was cruising along, not allowing a run through the first five innings. Meanwhile, the Brewers got out to a 4-0 lead on the back of Corey Hart's 13th homer of the year and RBIs from Ryan Braun and Rickie Weeks. In the top of the sixth inning, the Brewers had the bases loaded with only one out and Narveson lined out to second base, and George Kottaras was doubled off first. Oh, how the momentum changed.
With two on and two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Macha went to the mound, looking like he was going to take Narveson out. But he didn't, and the Narv-dog promptly gave up a three-run homer to Cody Ross, tying the game. Things only got worse from there.
Carlos Villanueva finished off the sixth inning, but not before allowing two more runs of his own. Marco Estrada allowed four runs in the seventh, with a little help from home plate umpire Bill Miller, who completely missed Dan Uggla not touching home plate for what would have been the third out. Jeff Suppan allowed another two runs in the eighth.

Boy am I glad we have an above replacement level GM.
Can you imagine how bad our pitching would be if he was replacement level or worse?

It looks to me like
Prince is sitting on top of the plate more than we has been in the past. I went back and looked at some old video and he used to be back further from the plate. Edging closer might be an instinctive thing to do to get a better look at the pitches, but it keeps him from extending his arms, and that’s why I think his power #s are down.
Boy I hated this game
i'm fighting all the french people i can find. happy cinco de mayo!

It's nice to see we are not talking about
public executions. ;-) (it’s still only a game)
I feel badly for Narveson (among others). He’s got to be looking over his shoulder with Cappy in the wings. Very solid outing for five. That should still count for something.
Hang this one on the manager. Got greedy, trying to “save” his bullpen. Sounds like a page from the days of Yost….

how would it have been better going to the pen earlier?
they gave up 9 runs or so after he was out, and he left in position for a no-decision.

Agreed
When I saw Macha leave the mound with Narveson still in, I was screaming at the TV for them to go to the pen.
It looks like it wouldn’t have mattered… since the pen got rocked too.
Oh well, I’m sure they gave joy to most of the 10,000 fans in attendance.
Nice one with the "Graph of Sadness"
Tomorrow, let’s try to make sure our pitchers have the “Amulet of Endurance” and the “Ring of Effectiveness”.

Too close for missiles, I’m switching to Ueck.
This is fucking bullshit
I was listening to the game on my way home from up north and we had a 4-0 lead, and this if the end result?!?! Fuck this shit.

Read a good article
suggesting that the Brewers hook up with the Mets and swap Suppan for Oliver Perez and about $8 million. I like the idea. At this point, I’d take Meltdown Bradley for Suppan. Perez has at least shown shades of potential in the last three years.
One man's garbage is another man-person's good ungarbage.
No way.
Suppan at least will be gone next year. Trading for Perez would stick us with him.
Shruggity.
If you had asked me in spring training
I would have taken Perez. He’s only 29, he might have a good year hidden somewhere in his arm – Suppan is toast, and so is this season.
I went to the Royals game today and saw...
A group of fans with matching shirts that said “I have a YOST infection”… I chuckled…
Goooooo-mez!

If Suppan were a dog...
Melvin would be telling us that he went to a farm up north where he’d have plenty of space to give up runs.

they just called up Loe
hopefully that is the end for Suppan

Don't hold your breath
More than likely it’s Estrada that gets sent down. And then in a week when Riske is back, it’ll be Braddock.
