I like
that Lucroy is finally getting some consistent playing time (the anti-Gamel?). Now if we can do something about that JEd problem…
Towlieppan: "You wanna throw high?"
Well, the best way to fix that would be for him to get more at bats, no?
Towlieppan: "You wanna throw high?"
No, the best way to fix that would
be to hire a hitting coach for him. We’re still trying to win games, believe it or not.
Shruggity.
Ok
I agree on the hitting coach part, but do you really think that starting JEd in center is the best way to win ball games? I just don’t feel comfortable enough with his defense in center, but maybe that’s just me.
Now I’m not saying we should bat Gomez 2nd or anything, but stick him in the 7 or 8 hole and let him get some consistent at bats.
Towlieppan: "You wanna throw high?"
No, but I want Edmonds bat in the lineup
and his defense in center is just as good as Hart’s in right (okay, not saying much).
Shruggity.
Multiple choice:
This lineup tells us…
A) Lucroy is the now the primary starting catcher
B) Lucroy and Kottaras are in a weird week-by-week platoon
C) Kottaras is too devastated by Greece losing their opening round World Cup match to play
D) Macha determines his starting catchers and outfielders using a dartboard
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
C
Greece looked miserable.
Too close for missiles, I’m switching to Ueck.

E) Kottaras has some lingering injury
Macha hasn’t shown a penchant for starting you’ve guys. Then again maybe he likes Lucroy’s attitude.

yeap
I believe you are right about the injury
"let George do it" is not a Macha mantra now
as was mentioned on yesterday’s telecast, George is 1 for 22 or 27 in runners thrown out. If true, that stat will relegate him to pinch hitting and spot starts. And, of course, catchers rarely pinch hit. Since your opponents follow RTO by catchers, Macha needs reassurance “George can do it” with runners on, ‘else it’s open season.
Luckily, for now we’re not missing his bat.

F) Macha has jumped the shark.
Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.
more
G) They’re about to trade for catching and Lucroy will soon be sent down and is getting his last chance to show some talent
H) They’re planning on trading Lucroy and driving up his stock (partly to convince Salome he has a place in the org)
