There were 1525 players drafted this year
and the Brewers thought #1526 looked good enough to sign? My theory is that they signed him so they could make jokes about signing a guy named “Bobo.”
What’s the point of signing an undrafted free agent given every single other team in the league passed on the guy, including the Brewers?
Sometimes guys slip through the cracks.
Sometimes teams need organizational filler. I can’t think of any real notable NDFA success stories off the top of my head, but I’m sure there are some.
Now that's great tasting chicken!

Yep.
Basically, somebody’s looking at tentative rosters and thinking, “We need one more pitcher in Helena, preferably a guy with some college experience.”
Plus, beyond the first few hundred, each team’s rankings are very, very different. 800 pitchers were taken in the draft, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Bobo was in the Brewers’ top 300.
