It was a good game for Dylan Covey to see.
Towards the beginning of the game, it really looked like the Brewers were going to lose. Randy Wolf had some control issues throughout the first few innings. He pitched through the seventh, throwing 97 pitches and hitting two players in the process. It seems as though this was the game of plunkings, with Casey McGehee and Craig Counsell all becoming casualties in the process.
But yay, an Escobar single in the third inning began the rally that eventually led to a Braun grand slam. And thus began the scoring. Counsell walked on a ten pitch at bat in the sixth inning. He then stole a base while Alcides Escobar was batting. Unfortunately, nothing came of Craiggers' hard work, as he was thrown out at home, Braun scored on a wild pitch by reliever Trevor Bell. There were a few other runs scored, but I lost track in all the excitement.
And there was much rejoicing.

I love the box score abbreviation of Trevor Bell's name

actually after Craig stole second
Escobar lined a base hit and Counsell was thrown out at home by Abreu.

I think he did well after the play was done,
like a kind of “oh wait, in case something crazy just happened I am safe?”
Agreed
but wait another 2 seconds and he stabs at the plate as he is getting up. Clearly out and the play was over but just a little “here I am now touching the plate” kind of thing
I thought you were being history revisionist
and felt that Counsell was due his diety-level respect. He can do no wrong.

Nothing about Tori Hunter gifting the home run to McGehee?
Or the plunking-sliding into Aybar?
How far will this one fly?
How did the admiral get hurt?
Did they change their defense a bunch because the game was out of reach anyway, or do they REALLY not have someone able to slot in for him directly

Box score doesn't say Braun was HBP
Also, Michael Ryan is back in the big leagues? Are Angels really that beat up or weak in the outfield?
Failure is just success rounded down.
Yes to the first question
and as for the second, he was a late game substitution to get some ABs (also saves wear and tear on Hunter and Abreu).

Oh, I get why they used him
I’m just surprised they didn’t have anyone else to call up, he hasn’t been in the majors since 2005. Maybe he just did that well in AAA this year, shrug.
Failure is just success rounded down.
Fixed
Apparently I make a lot of mistakes writing stories at midnight
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
The time qualifier is unnecessary
Oh snap.
Failure is just success rounded down.

I like how Tori Hunter basically told all the whiners to STFU
great quote in MJS about how the slide was clean and how the league is getting soft
“manager Mike Scioscia and Hunter both said the slide was clean.
“That’s something that’s a lost art in this game,” Hunter said. “The league is getting softer but I like the way he was playing the game.”
I love how Hunter plays the game, I love how he was actually very pissed off he let that ball pop out of his glove and over the wall. So many Center fielders would have tried to laugh it off. Hunter looked like you had just insulted his wife.
