Arnett got his first pro win

I guess that’s a baby step or something.

Too bad the Timber Rattlers couldn’t pull off the victory.

I've had it with this verkakte flippity-ship!

Yeah, he faced 6 batters and struck them all out!

Another nice one for Jeffress, too

Baby Brewers

Not a bad line by the Arizona Brewers pitchers…19K’s in 9 IP.

D'oh!

Carlos George’s first error. It was a good run while it lasted.

My goodness.

I'm just going to go ahead an guess that...

…. it’s a pretty rare thing to go 0 for 6 and still get caught stealing.

What begins in fear usually ends in folly.

is it too soon..

to start getting excited about jeffress again

by jmag043 on Jun 29, 2010 8:48 AM CDT reply actions

Yes

You can get excited he is healthy and pitching, but beating up on Low A hitters isn’t anything to get excited about.

Of course

Anytime he’s actually pitching there’s reason to be excited

Ryan Braun: He loves it.

by SRB on Jun 29, 2010 1:57 PM CDT up reply actions

any chance he will be bumped up a level?

I know the sample size is small but hes just mowing down guys right now. Has he been relegated to the bullpen or is there any chance we see him getting stretched out to start again?

by jmag043 on Jun 29, 2010 2:08 PM CDT up reply actions

He’s going to be used out of the bullpen for “probably the duration of this year,” but could be moved back to the rotation in the future (via McCalvy/Gord Ash) As for moving him up a level, I don’t see why they wouldn’t if he continues to succeed at Wisconsin.

Keith Law on Lawrie

Ranked him the 23rd best prospect in his mid-year update.

Comments – Never will be an above average 2B (almost a compliment compared to earlier reports) but his bat will play anywhere.

Kevin Goldstein on Scooter

Link

Scooter Gennett, 2B, Brewers (Low-A Wisconsin): 3-for-7, 2 2B, R, 2 K. Yes, he’s tiny, but he’s also one of the best pure hitters in the Midwest League; batting .333/.393/.481 and generating plenty of buzz.
