Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

Cardinals 8, Brewers 0

W: Adam Wainwright (8-3)
L: Randy Wolf (4-5)

HR: Colby Rasmus (9)

MVP: tie, Corey Hart and Rickie Weeks (.015)(but, really, none of 'em, you're all horrible)
LVP: Randy Wolf (-.142)

the WPA thing that shows how bad the Brewers were tonight
SBNation coverage

Unlike last night, where the one thing fans couldn't gripe about was the pitching, the pitching and the offense combined to do exactly nothing. Adam Wainwright held the Brewers to 2 hits and a walk in a complete-game win. At least tonight you can't complain that they left too many runners on base.

I was really upset that the place in which we were eating

changed from the game to the hockey game featuring Chicago.

But now, I’m glad I got to eat my meal in peace-ish.

it's the Stanley Cup Finals

that always takes precedence to a regular-season ballgame. At least around here in St. Paul it does, but that’s all we know, hockey.

I would agree with this...

Something needs to happen. Cut someone, fire someone, fold up the tents…I don’t care. But something needs to break here pretty damn soon.

Remember, the (loose) definition of insanity is repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting different results.

Insanity

Except they haven’t been doing the same thing… like mixing up the lineup and bringing in new arms from Nashville.

Granted, none of it seems to be working… but does it really matter? Firing anyone will likely not get the Brewers to the playoffs this season. My guess is that unless the Brewers take over last place from the Astros for an extended period, the firings won’t happen until at the end of the season.

by sjlee on Jun 4, 2010 10:31 PM CDT up reply actions

BTW

I think this is the third time they’ve used this type of lineup (Braun hitting 2nd and Fielder hitting 3rd). I haven’t looked back, but I get the suspicion that it hasn’t really worked out very well.

by sjlee on Jun 4, 2010 10:32 PM CDT up reply actions

So, you think they should continue trying that lineup?

How many times would be a sufficient sample size?

Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.

by sjlee on Jun 5, 2010 8:34 AM CDT up reply actions

I prefer this linup right now

Braun
Escobar
Fielder
Gomez
Hart
Kottaras
McGehee
Pitcher
Weeks

by nullacct on Jun 5, 2010 9:00 AM CDT up reply actions

At this point, I'm sure they'd try anything, but...

I think one thing that would likely happen with that lineup…

Braun and Fielder wouldn’t see many pitches to hit… which means less HRs for both.

I also don’t like the idea of giving Gomez more ABs than McGehee.

Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.

by sjlee on Jun 5, 2010 9:52 AM CDT up reply actions

We scored 7 against the Marlins with that line-up.

That is the best optomized lineup the Brewers have

run out over the last decade. I wish they would do it every game.

Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.

by cooper82 on Jun 5, 2010 12:22 PM CDT up reply actions

I believe the idea behind it was to score early

They scored a run in the first inning when it debuted on 5/30, but not on 6/2 and not on 6/4. Total runs: 4, 7, 0.

Failure is just success rounded down.

Only one start from someone from Nashville (Ponch Estrada)

Other than that, it’s been the same crap recycled game after game.

I used to follow Division III hockey pretty heavily

and there were fans of other schools who were a LOT like Cardinals fans. They were the keepers of all things holy, they were the ones who were getting screwed on calls, etc, etc, etc.

This is all coming back to me now…sigh

Oh, I don't know about that

I bet that’d still ruffle a few feathers with the trolls. He is their hitting coach afterall.

According to the article posted in another thread

he said he got tested all the time.

The problem being, there is no testing for HGH

I'll look it up on the google.

In Pujols’ opinion, and many others, it is disrespectful of the game. Stating such does not make Pujols a hypocrite, because Pujols does not disrespect the game.

I didn't even get my money's worth on the comment

That’s what sucks about all of this

Blow this...

dysfunctional hitting team up ASAP.. Same shit for 3+ yrs now. Anybody not named Ryan or Yovani should be being shopped.

by Flag Up on Jun 4, 2010 10:48 PM CDT reply actions

You just want that YoGa and eight Brauns line-up

Keeping Fielder (if possible) wouldn’t be the worst idea though.

Screw that.

Let’s get the Optimus line up.

For what?

Only a handful of the guys would be worth anything in trade… the rest would get laughs from other GMs.

I would be so easy to drop f-bombs in every one of my posts...

However, even without reading the posting guidelines, I know better…

But I get close…:)

I'm as sick of Cards fans as anyone

But the Wainwright ankle comment in the game thread was not cool. A potential injury to an opposing player is never a consolation.

But yeah, everything else about the Cards can, should, and must for the love of God be mocked. Just wanted to drop those two cents in there.

what the hell is that thing eating Bryce Harper’s face

the kid needs one person in his circle who will be honest and tell him when he looks/acts like a jackass

Not that I actually know the guy

but there was a pretty funny bit a PR/propaganda that came out on espn yesterday about how “Oh he’s just another one of the guys, and he’s mormon, and blah blah blah.”

 Whatever.

for a sec there, I thought you typed "solder"

and I was wondering what this had to do with welding, etc.

also, it reminded me of native american (and braveheart-like) warpaint.

These Brewers almost remind me of the South Park

where they are intentionally trying to lose so they don’t have to keep playing.
