Cardinals 8, Brewers 0
W: Adam Wainwright (8-3)
L: Randy Wolf (4-5)
HR: Colby Rasmus (9)
MVP: tie, Corey Hart and Rickie Weeks (.015)(but, really, none of 'em, you're all horrible)
LVP: Randy Wolf (-.142)
the WPA thing that shows how bad the Brewers were tonight
SBNation coverage
Unlike last night, where the one thing fans couldn't gripe about was the pitching, the pitching and the offense combined to do exactly nothing. Adam Wainwright held the Brewers to 2 hits and a walk in a complete-game win. At least tonight you can't complain that they left too many runners on base.

I was really upset that the place in which we were eating
changed from the game to the hockey game featuring Chicago.
But now, I’m glad I got to eat my meal in peace-ish.

it's the Stanley Cup Finals
that always takes precedence to a regular-season ballgame. At least around here in St. Paul it does, but that’s all we know, hockey.
how could you root for a chicago team?

I don't care anymore if Macha deserves to be fired or not
I just want to fire him to make myself feel better
I would agree with this...
Something needs to happen. Cut someone, fire someone, fold up the tents…I don’t care. But something needs to break here pretty damn soon.
Remember, the (loose) definition of insanity is repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting different results.
"The Milwaukee Brewers' line score is starting to resemble an international phone number" - Pittsburgh Pirates Radio during 20-0 shutout - 4-22-10
Insanity
Except they haven’t been doing the same thing… like mixing up the lineup and bringing in new arms from Nashville.
Granted, none of it seems to be working… but does it really matter? Firing anyone will likely not get the Brewers to the playoffs this season. My guess is that unless the Brewers take over last place from the Astros for an extended period, the firings won’t happen until at the end of the season.
BTW
I think this is the third time they’ve used this type of lineup (Braun hitting 2nd and Fielder hitting 3rd). I haven’t looked back, but I get the suspicion that it hasn’t really worked out very well.
So, you think they should continue trying that lineup?
How many times would be a sufficient sample size?
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.
At this point, I'm sure they'd try anything, but...
I think one thing that would likely happen with that lineup…
Braun and Fielder wouldn’t see many pitches to hit… which means less HRs for both.
I also don’t like the idea of giving Gomez more ABs than McGehee.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.
We scored 7 against the Marlins with that line-up.
Only game we won in the series, I think.
SRS BSNS
That is the best optomized lineup the Brewers have
run out over the last decade. I wish they would do it every game.
Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.
I believe the idea behind it was to score early
They scored a run in the first inning when it debuted on 5/30, but not on 6/2 and not on 6/4. Total runs: 4, 7, 0.
Failure is just success rounded down.
Only one start from someone from Nashville (Ponch Estrada)
Other than that, it’s been the same crap recycled game after game.
"The Milwaukee Brewers' line score is starting to resemble an international phone number" - Pittsburgh Pirates Radio during 20-0 shutout - 4-22-10
You're forgetting Capuano too.
But I was referring to the overall pitching staff… not just the rotation. At least Suppan isn’t in the rotation anymore.
Right now, I wish he was in the rotation...
then we’d only have to deal with his shittyocity once every 5 days.
"The Milwaukee Brewers' line score is starting to resemble an international phone number" - Pittsburgh Pirates Radio during 20-0 shutout - 4-22-10
When you have eliminated all other possibilities
whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth: Since nothing else works, Macha & Melvin must be the problem.
Oh, I'm not disagreeing with you
Just saying that they’re not doing the same thing over and over… they’re throwing all kinds of things against the wall right now… nothing’s sticking.
You want to know how this makes me feel?

Like this. Again.

I was thinking of last Sunday vs. the Mets, when he came into a tie game.
Stop the madness! Stop the losing!
Someone else probably remembers better
but I don’t think there were many fresh arms available when he came in.
Then again, even if there was, maybe it’s Macha’s way of getting him off the team faster.
Acknowledged
but I’m hoping it was Macha trying to send a message. Then the rest of that afternoon might not be in vain.
