SB Nation Coverage

The Brewers bounced back from adversity tonight, scoring two runs each in the fifth, sixth and seventh to turn a 5-1 deficit into a 7-5 advantage and making a winner out of Kameron Loe for the first time in over two years.

The offense came from unlikely sources tonight: Chris Narveson and Jim Edmonds (forced into action on a sore Achillies) singled in runs in the fifth, Carlos Gomez and Alcides Escobar drove in the runs in the sixth, and Edmonds came back to the plate in the seventh and hit a two run homer to put the Brewers ahead for good.

Edmonds was forced into action when Corey Hart left tonight's game early. While attempting to make a sliding catch on a foul ball near the stands in right, Hart slammed his right (throwing) hand into the wall and may have injured his wrist. X-rays on the joint came back negative, but he's still expected to undergo an MRI tomorrow.

Gotta love baseball

Ueck is back and an old backup outfielder is the MVP.

Why not?

He’s young and healthy…..why quit a winner?

Ya know if there's contenders that could use a closer?

I mean, hell, if Ax can go virtually every day, I feel bad for Hoff. He’s pitched decent of late but still won’t get an opp.

by kgaul on Jul 23, 2010 10:27 PM CDT up reply actions

not necessarily

of course it depends on whether or not you think the Red Sox are contending. (Daniel Bard can only pitch so many innings)

We'll take it!

this game couldn’t have come at a better time to regenerate fan interest. Well, my interest, anyway.

I really Hart is ok so we can trade him still

I know I’m horrible but that’s how I feel

I was disappointed with the lack of hookers but the pancakes were delightful

His value went down

Should have sold him a few days ago..

by SgtClueLs on Jul 23, 2010 11:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Damn Corey Hart!

Doesn’t he know we’re trying to trade him?!

My goodness.

I guess Hart already had an MRI tonight

No fracture revealed, he’s day-to-day.

Of all the what if scenarios to replay for the first half of the year

the most interesting must be “what would the Brewers record be with Uecker in the booth and healthy that whole time.”

But second most interesting is “what would the Brewers record be with 9 LaPorta’s.”

Applying Simpsons and Star Wars quotes to Brewers discussions since 2009.

Did you know

That 9 LaPortas was the original title for what would become The Knack’s 1979 smash hit “My Charona”? It’s really true! I pinkie swear!

At the game last night

’Rillo threw out the first pitch – wish he could have stayed in the game

With the exception of Corey Hart’s triple in the first – the team was lifeless until the Narve-Dog showed the team how to hit and drove in the second run of the game. Then there was a collective facepalm as the offense finally remember what those sticks were in their hands.

Rickie’s Defense – He made a jumping grab at a liner and made me realize that we don’t P&M that much about his D anymore and Willy must have really done some magic with him. Looking at B-R, he is on pace to have his best defensive year yet – he is actually nearing average…..

Hart’s peak value has passed and should have been traded already

The loudest and longest ovation came not when JEd hit his two run blast, but rather when Uke was shown on the video board with a big old welcome back message. Why doesn’t Uke have a statue?

And Braun needs a day off where he doesn’t even come to the park. He can go down to his crappy waterfront grill wearing one of his crappy t-shirts and watch the crappy milwaukee river and get all of those crappy swings out of his system

by Saberilliterate on Jul 24, 2010 8:33 AM CDT up reply actions

He needs a lesson

from Suppan on how to own/operate a restaurant while still contribute meaningfully to a…. wait…. while still performin… no… um… I got nothing.

When did

Hank Aaron, Robin Yount, and Bud Selig die?

http://www.twitter.com/mykenk

by Mykenk on Jul 24, 2010 8:40 AM CDT up reply actions

Well...

It’s true. Aaron and Yount are exceptions. Selig, however, was killed and replaced by a race of super intelligent androids from another dimension, and has been dead for at least 20 years.

Eh

Reply fail. Guess I need to post more and figure out how the internet works.

by Acheron on Jul 24, 2010 8:51 AM CDT up reply actions

Unfortunately, looks like the Ax shot down my proposed entry music.

RT @jordanschelling: Nothing against Axford, but Audioslave just doesn’t have the same effect as “Hells Bells” as far as entrance music goes.

RT @mykenk: @jordanschelling You gotta talk him into using this. Even better/more appropriate than Hells Bells: http://youtu.be/M8WFl4Mo1yM

RT @jordanschelling: @mykenk he said he needs about 500 saves before he can use that

Dammit.

Too close for missiles, I’m switching to Ueck.
