Would have rather seen Cappy go
(or Hoffman, but, yeah) but CV’s been brutal. So… good move.

You keep using those words....

Thank you for saying that
It’s been driving me nuts for a while

No, I don't actually think that Mykenk's statement was a logical fallacy

Got rid of a guy who won't be around next year
In favor of a guy who will.
Maybe he should play first base instead. That is, he should lie out there and we can step on him when we get a hit.
As long as it wasn’t Axford, I don’t think it mattered one bit… they all suck right now

Wait, what'd I miss?
Why is this lame?

That's why his role on the team declines every year, right?
First he was going to be a starter, well, that didn’t work.
So then he was a fill-in closer, well, that didn’t work.
So now he is a setup man, well, that hasn’t worked.
Maybe he will be the best middle reliever ever!
Maybe he should play first base instead. That is, he should lie out there and we can step on him when we get a hit.

He has the second best xFIP of any pitcher on the team (behind Axford) and the best K/9, as well as some of the best raw stuff of any pitcher in the bullpen…
I understand people get angry at players the day after they give up a grand slam (not that CV hasn’t been giving up runs for a while now) but how exactly can you justify keeping Narveson on the team over him?
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
Everyone who has started at least one game for the Crew this year
Season WHIP
1.313 Gallardo
1.505 Narveson
1.513 Bush
1.526 Wolf
1.579 Capuano
1.704 Parra
1.765 Estrada
1.983 Davis
2.000 Suppan
Capuano actually has the edge as a starter (1.38 vs. 1.41 WHIP), but fair point. That’s more a testament to how bad Bush/Wolf/Davis have been this season though.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
Doesn't steal enough bases?

They weren't going to get rid of a starter
I keep forgetting that what might happen and what should have happened is far more important than what actually has happened. Silly me.
Maybe he should play first base instead. That is, he should lie out there and we can step on him when we get a hit.
You're right, we should bring back Braden Looper and make a run for the playoffs.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
Of course!
There are no bad pitchers, just unlucky ones.
Maybe he should play first base instead. That is, he should lie out there and we can step on him when we get a hit.
No, there are plenty of bad pitchers. Advanced metrics help distinguish between the bad and the unlucky.
Not that CV’s career 4.14 ERA (3.99 before yesterday) as a reliever is particularly bad by any measure.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
Villanueva’s problem this season has been giving up home runs, which is reflected in his FIP. But if we want an idea of how well we should expect him to pitch going forward, xFIP suggests that his HR rate will eventually correct itself.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
But his HR/9 rate is now 1.29 for 2010.
For his career, it’s 1.32.
Hasn’t the correction already occurred?

He's not bad
but Hawkins is gonna be on the team next year, CV isn’t. And Hawkins is better.
http://www.twitter.com/mykenk
Why would Villanueva not be on the team next year? That would be a terrible move.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
Because you can find a guy like Chris Smith to blow leads for one-third or one-quarter the cost
Maybe he should play first base instead. That is, he should lie out there and we can step on him when we get a hit.

So why are we sending him to AAA instead of trading him?
If he’s going to be on the team next year (as he absolutely should), this move makes no sense. If he’s not going to be on the team next year, this move makes no sense.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
You think he has trade value?
I’m not sure he’s got a place in the pen next year.
http://www.twitter.com/mykenk
Oh wait, nevermind.
With Hoffman gone, he’ll likely be there. Assuming he doesn’t get too much $ in arbitration, which is less likely, given that he’ll be in AAA for a month.
http://www.twitter.com/mykenk
He won't make much and is still only 26, I'm not sure why the Brewers would get rid of him.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
He's the 5th or 6th option in the bullpen and can't be a SP
Teams don’t like to spend much money on those guys and often like the flexibility to send them to AAA if they need a roster spot, which is why I could see him leaving next year.

Why doesn't it make sense if he's going to be on the team next year?
He had a minor league option left and the Brewers needed a roster spot. Sending CV down was one of the few options DM had that didn’t require him to put someone on waivers.
DM has been playing this shell game most of the season. He must think CV has some value, otherwise, he would’ve just Vargas’d him.
If Hawkins comes back and still struggles, I can seem them putting him back on the DL and recalling CV.
