YoGa Goes To DL, Davis Activated.
Adam McCalvy tweets that placing Yo on the DL officially rules Gallardo out of the All Star Game.

When people ask how twitter is useful, this is a good example
Sure, we’d know in a few hours (if that), but McCalvy got the scoop this way. And really, how much more do we have to know than what he managed to fit in 140 characters.
Sucks for Yo, but hopefully it’s only a 15-day DL stint. I think this should pretty much keep everyone on their regular rotation, too, shouldn’t it?
Makes Sense
I thought it was bad team management when they initially said he would be done for at least 10 days, but they wouldn’t put him on the DL. Particularly with this injury for a pitcher, why not take a couple extra days to make sure it’s right along with guarding against playing with a shortened roster.

He'd be eligible to come back July 20.
He’d miss the Pirates series before the break and the Braves series right after the break.

This is a stupid question
But does Gallardo still get to be introduced at the ASG if he’s on the DL?
No clue, but I doubt it
They’re already going to be naming 20% of baseball, I’m not sure if they list the all-stars that couldn’t be there. Unless YoGa’s there, at which point wouldn’t they have to announce him?
The Cain activation was going to be done until Davis was activated, right? So now that Davis is activated, Cain’s on his way back to AAA?
Wait, they didn't know Davis was ready?
They called Cain up, and Davis being healthy was a surprise? Wtf
Oh come now
You’re really shocked by The Mustache and his Merry Band of Bunglers’ ineptitude?

If Davis wasn't going to be healthy for a few more days, it might have made sense to call up an extra bat for those days.
But, healthy or not, he won't pitch until Friday.
So, since they’ve called Cain to town anyway, why not give him a few days on the roster (and a start or two in center)?
Now that's great tasting chicken!
Fear
If he does well, even in two or three games, then it looks bad to send him down again and run Gomonds out there.
Also, they’re already paying Davis, so they save money by not activating Cain. Maybe if there were 100-200 more fans at some game this year, they would do it, but there weren’t so they won’t. Way to crush dreams, “fans.”
Eagerly awaiting SBN Madison.
We shouldn't see Yo again...
Until he’s 100%. I don’t care if they keep him on the DL for longer than they technically have to. I don’t want this guy pitching if he’s not 100%.
agree
i was worried when they said he was day to day, esp when that other fanshot indicated that when players rush back they usually end up with rotator cuff issues…
Furthermore --
Besides keeping Yo mending, we can see what we have in Parra and Narveson.

was the thing with rotator cuffs
just that these injuries, similar to rotator cuff injuries, tend to result in other compensatory injuries when not fully healed.
After reading it a few times, that’s what I concluded.
Not that these two specific injuries are related to each other, but rather each result in secondary injuries.
As I understand it.
A pitcher needs his oblique muscle to be working properly in order to be able to rotate his trunk.
If the pitcher’s oblique is compromised other muscle groups that aren’t as strong, are used more forcefully and that’s when you blow out your rotator cuff.
Essentially, Yo should not try to “pitch through the pain” — If he does, he could likely hurt himself even worse.

Lefties
Should be interesting to see a rotation with 4 left handers. Any way we can get Cappy and Bush to switch roles and go for broke
