Peter Gammons heard the latest Hart-to-Braves rumor.

Mike Minor, come on down.

I'd be very happy with this return.

Do it!

Ryan Braun: He loves it.

You think Corey Hart is worth more than the 7th overall pick from last year’s draft who has 124 Ks in 99 IP and a 3.70 ERA in AA & AAA?

Is he actually worth more? No.

But teams always overpay for power, especially given that there is demand for someone like Hart across multiple teams.

I would be perfectly happy with a Hart/Minor swap, but I also don’t think it would be ridiculous for the Brewers to ask for a C-grade prospect in addition.

Maybe we can throw in a C-grade prospect to get them to take Hoffman too.

than a 3.70 ERA in AA?

yes

plus, it’s A/AA, not AA/AAA, I do believe

by PagsBrewCrew on Jul 8, 2010 7:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Combined ERA from AA and AAA

He started the year in the Southern League (AA) and got promoted to the AAA team in Gwinnett a couple weeks ago.

For some reason

Minor’s numbers reminded me of Manny Parra

by Infield Fly Rule on Jul 8, 2010 9:25 PM CDT reply actions

So who do the Brewers actually get?

With the Twins, I think the consensus was that the Brewers get the 3rd best “tradable” player on the team. Given that Minor might be the top bargaining chip the Braves are willing to part with midway through the season, who is DM actually going to get? Will he even ask for Minor or just start a rung lower to save time in the “negotiation?”

by ecocd on Jul 9, 2010 12:01 AM CDT reply actions

Who knows. It's something Gammons heard. That doesn't mean that there's any truth to it.

It doesn’t even mean that we’re talking to the Braves. It’s entirely possible that somebody was just speculating.

True

But it won’t stop people in Old Vegas from complaining “I can’t believe DM said no to the Hart for Minor offer!” the next couple years.

When will it come out that it was Hart for Minor Leaguer and Gammons misheard?

Eagerly awaiting SBN Madison.

or maybe it'll be a three-way trade with seattle

involving this guy
Plus we need to corner the market on players born in Sacramento. Maybe that way we can reunite players that played together as little kids.

I always wanted to see a Bush-League win-save when they were in Toronto

Jung Bong and Brandon Puffer should have been connected somehow, too.

Eagerly awaiting SBN Madison.

puffer would hold bong, no doubt

perhaps on the opposing team. We’d have to make sure that Jeffress didn’t get his visa cleared though.

Yeah, BCB's been dragging it's feet the last week or so.

I had a killer Tom Kruse reference the other day that fell on deaf ears.

That's like saying Strasburg throws 100.

Minor projects to pitch in the high 80’s with his fastball

by brewfan2 on Jul 9, 2010 11:31 AM CDT up reply actions

I don’t know many soft tossing lefties who can reach back and hit 92.

He projects as a 2nd or 3rd starter, which is something the Brewers need, regardless of what you want to call him.

That sounds about right

…seeing him Tuesday night (89-93 MPH fastball with good fade, plus change, solid-average-to-above-average curve that he struggled to locate, BTW)

I don't know...

I don’t put much stock in this journalist/blogger/scout when he writes that Corey Hart “sucks”.

by brewfan2 on Jul 9, 2010 3:07 PM CDT up reply actions

OK you don't like the sources who have seen him pitch this year

But you have no trouble putting stock in Razzball (hillarious fantasy site, but that is about it) and a December 2009 blog post from Bravesbuzz.blogspot.com to formulate your opinion on Minor.

You do realize that by the time he makes the bigs, our rotation won't be the same as it is today, correct?

Davis will be gone after this year. Narvdog probably won’t be around, and Parra could be gone as well.

http://www.mlbsoup.com

by tcyoung on Jul 9, 2010 11:17 AM CDT up reply actions

That's definitely correct.

Just making the point that soft tossing lefties are often overvalued, as we’ve seen this season with our mediocre staff.

by brewfan2 on Jul 9, 2010 11:33 AM CDT up reply actions

Except...

someone who consistently works in the 90’s isn’t really that much of a “soft tossing lefty”.

by gobrew23 on Jul 9, 2010 12:26 PM CDT up reply actions

Well...

This article seems to think he only throws his fastball between 86-91. And this one has him throwing in the high 80’s. That’s not burning up the radar gun.
