Conflicted about the up coming Reds series
I of course want the Crew to go in there and sweep the Reds. But there is always a but, by doing that the Brewers might be helping out the Cards and their Uptight Citizens Brigade fan base. Since it is pretty likely that the Brewers have no chance to win the Division I fall back on the "Anyone but the Cards and Cubs" golden rule. So lets hope that while the Crew is sweeping the Reds the Astros are sweeping the Cards. It would slow down the Brewers run to lock up 3rd place but I can live with that. But would not hurt the Reds that much their MN would still be able to go down.
So lets go beat the Reds than they can get back to their winning ways. Guess I was not as conflicted as I thought ;)

I understand what you're saying
(I think).
I want the Brewers to beat the Reds, but I wouldn’t be too disappointed if they lost.
My goodness.
I'm with Heather on this one
Though, I must admit, other than Sunday, I have no expectations of the Brewers winning any games right now. I don’t get too high or too low with the results of their games, at least not for the last month or so.

although
if the reds win, it might help our draft pick number, which is a win in and of itself.

Hurt myself trying to wrap my mind around that
Remember some of us are unfrozen cavemen and your complex lines of thought frighten and scare me ;)

I understand the sentiment of wanting the Reds to maintain a lead, but there’s an extremely slim chance that an ice cold streak by St. Louis could mean the Brewers could get within striking distance of second place. It would be much sweeter to have the Brewers overtake the Cardinals than to have the Reds win the division by 8.

They are 8 games back and have a pretty tough schedule from here out.
Catching the Cards isnt going to happen.

Where did I say that I was going to root for the other team?
Simply made the point that they are not going to wind up in 2nd. Reading generally helps

This thread
is about cheering for the Reds. Or being conflicted as to cheering for the reds.

I agree
But the previous post (the one I replied to) was about having a chance at 2nd place.
If I had replied to the post it wouldn’t have been indented.

I didn't say I was betting the house on it
I just meant that complementing hot and cold streaks would put the Brewers in contention to take over 2nd place. It would require a 20-12 and 13-21 finish for the Cardinals. Are either of those likely? No, of course not. Are they conceivably possible? Certainly.
As a wise man once said, “Reading generally helps.”

As a Reds fan, I enjoy your team, your fans, and this site specifically
So thanks for at least being conflicted! I remember rooting for you guys in 2008 while the Reds were well out of it. Thanks for entertaining similar notions this year. I’m just happy that we can come together under the banner of fucking the Cardinals right in the pants.
