BCB Fantasy Football update: Drafts done. Time to talk-a-the-smack

Thank you to the 12 of you that took time out of your weekends to show up and draft.  As I announced before each draft, the Power Rankings will be done in the way Infield Fly Rule suggested.  Each week, every team will be ranked by how they would do against EVERY team in both leagues.  Top team will earn 23 points, bottom 0 (as in you'd lose to everybody).  Ties will count as .5 points.  Being that the scoring is the same in both leagues, there shouldn't be a comparison issue.

The question arises as to how does the endgame work.  There are two ideas I had.  First, that the power ranks matter up until the playoffs, and the higher scoring of the two champions is considered the champion of all.  The second is that the team with the highest power rank from the regular season is determined to be the champion of all.  Really, these rankings are just for bragging and whining rights.  As Noah J brought up, a team who has not beaten anyone could be considerably high in the rankings.

Yet another thought is to incorporate sort of a BCS approach.  Having Wins and Total Points be a factor as well when it comes to determining rankings.  Same 23-0 point system, but then averaging the 3 scores and determining the order that way.

Let me know what you think.  Also feel free to discuss your and other teams here and potential trades.

sorry i didnt make the draft

the wife wanted to go to ‘taste of madison’ and being a guy who has been married for 12 years means skipping a fantasy draft. Anyways, I’m fairly happy with my team, but everyone on my team is available if the price is right.

He’s actually underrated, but that’s another can of worms…

maybe

during today’s game the source of the quote in your sig will stop by and offer up some underrated NFL players. Such as Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees.

reggie Bush

he’s been called overrated so long that he’s now underrated

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

Rankings and overall champion

My thoughts on this would be that the power rankings are used during the season to determine who the overall best team but once the playoffs start the teams go head to head to determine the champion. In the championship of both leagues you are essentially play against the other league as well and the person with the highest score that week is the overall winner. Let me know what you think.

so the guy with the highest score of the 2 champions in the playoffs the overall champion?

How is his arm?

Does he have good awarness in the pocket?

But back to reality. I also have RB’s on the block, seeing as auto-draft (was at the minnesota state fair getting fat) decided to give me 8 RB’s and 3 WR’s. Take a look and make me an offer, or dont.

There is an actual trading block where you can put players up and positions that you want.

Go to ‘My Team’

There is a submenu below ‘My Team’ that should say ‘Roster,’ ‘Add Player,’ ‘Drop Players,’Watch List,’ ‘Trading Block…’

Nevermind, you're probably using that already.

Just realized you’re in the other league.

still could use input on the power rankings

Should I use the BCS-style or the straight Head to Head v. the entire league way?

I scored 102 points despite forgetting to take Beanie Wells out of my lineup.

So I’m feeling good.

Now quite as good as your 135+ points, though.

by NoahJ on Sep 13, 2010 9:42 AM CDT up reply actions

yeah, thanks for crushing me

The Gulf Coast Oilers did not show up this week. However, Lawrence Taylors After School Special could give that 135 a run for its money sitting at 88 with Gates, Ray Rice, and Jamal Charles left to play. I will be creating a new thread for people to thank their players for sh*tting the bed tomorrow, and power rankings will be out on Wednesday.
