Axford, Betancourt, Braun, Hairston or Wolf: Who Will Be Brewer Of The NLCS?
I guess it's time to wrap this up. The Brewers finished off the season with a 2-4 week against the Cardinals, and here are your nominees for BotW:
John Axford pitched three scoreless innings and recorded the save in both Brewer wins this week. He allowed two hits, didn't walk a batter and struck out four over the three appearances and was worth +.109 WPA.
Yuniesky Betancourt had three multi-hit games in the series, and three of his eight hits went for extra bases. He hit .333/.333/.542 in the series and was worth +.227 WPA.
Ryan Braun had three multi-hit games in the series, and four of his eight hits went for extra bases. He hit .333/.385/.583 in the series and was worth +.274 WPA.
Jerry Hairston Jr had at least one hit in all six games in the series (and ten of eleven playoff games overall). He had three multi-hit games and four of his nine hits were doubles for a .391/.440/.565 line and +.283 WPA.
Randy Wolf pitched seven innings in the Brewers' Game 4 victory, allowing two runs on six hits with one walk and six strikeouts. He was worth +.167 WPA in the game.

I can't forgive Hairston for the big error or he may have gotten my vote
As good as Braun was, it was Wolf’s pitching effort that got the series back to Milwaukee, that alone earned him BOTW.
Personally, I think we got hosed on that one! - Harry Doyle
My vote
Bettancourt and Hairston killed us with poor field play, so it doesn’t matter how much they hit, they’re not getting my vote. Braun did nothing the last few games when it really mattered, so no vote there either. Axford didn’t have much of an opportunity to shine, so I can’t give him a vote. Wolf had his redemption when everyone thought he was gonna be crappy.
I agree with weisomatic. Two write in votes for Saito. He was in every game and stopped the bleeding.
