Beltre is a bear, kind of .
FanGraphs should consider a venue for a Gallery Night... they could even serve a cake with a Win Expectancy Chart of the 7/7/11 Brewers' game etched in the frosting, and 7-up. Oh, yeah - and t-shirts that say "SABR-Friday." I'm totally there.

I voted "No" because the season ended when the Brewers lost game 6 last week.
Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.
I have finally been able to find one good thing about the Brewers not making the World Series
I have been insanely busy at work over the last two weeks. Had the Brewers been in the World Series, I would have had to miss most of the games because I was working late.

I would have been torturing myself because I had to miss the games.

So I was watching the first part of the game at a restaurant...
And I heard someone say that their first favorite team was the Brewers and their 2nd favorite team was the Cardinals.
Please, please, please, someone make the world make sense again.
Good times never seemed so good!
Actually, there are several people like this in my family
due to having spent time in both areas.
I can see why that would work.
Kinda. Not really. I could never imagine being a Cards fan even if I moved to St Louis.

No I love St Louis!
The city. I go to visit family in Arkansas every year and on the drive down we always pass (and stop) at St Louis. It’s kinda like how I hate the Cubs/Bears but I love the city of Chicago.
Good times never seemed so good!
Rams and Blues coverage was okay...
But as soon as they start to talk about Cardinals’ baseball, the fortress goes up. They isolate themselves against the rest of the nation. It is like they think no one else pays attention to them. Idk it was just weird.

Exactly
They didn’t have such an issue back in the 80’s when they moved here from Wisconsin, though the World Series was difficult. Moving here a few years ago only made me hate the Cardinals a hundred times more.

I love that a guy with 6 career saves could finish off a World Series

Glad it was Berkman rather than Pujols
And not sure if I’m allowed to make a political-tinged statement, but I never thought I’d see the day when I was rooting for George W’s team….
by kotsaythebuzzkill on Oct 27, 2011 11:26 PM CDT reply actions
So I'm officially rooting for a Cardinal to have to get ejected or leave the game for some reason
E: George 4 (5, throw, throw, throw, throw).
It would, but I think the player/ coach would really have to want it.
It would probably take a lot to get ejected in front of a tense-as-hell home audience in a crazy late, extra-innings game.
by kotsaythebuzzkill on Oct 27, 2011 11:30 PM CDT up reply actions
Hopefully it's their last pitcher
So they have to pitch a position player and go with two outfielders
The last time a Cardinal got ejected in an intense extra innings game
When Molina tried to drown the umpire in his spit. That didn’t work out so well for us. Let’s just focus on the matter at hand.
But that's only because the Cardinals didn't have to trot a pitcher out in right field.
Pitcher playing in the field = greatest possible outcome. (Aside from the Cardinals losing, of course.)
by Cheeseandcorn on Oct 27, 2011 11:34 PM CDT up reply actions
I think it's the greatest possible outcome
Or maybe tied with position player pitching in a World Series elimination game.
E: George 4 (5, throw, throw, throw, throw).
What does the Rangers bench/bullpen look like now?
How many innings should we be aiming for?
Rangers
have only their backup catchers left on the bench… Torrealba and Treanor.
Bullpen has Gonzalez, Harrison and Wilson.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.
BOTH AT THE SAME TIME
Don’t tell me it’s impossible. TLR is managing this game.
by Cheeseandcorn on Oct 27, 2011 11:36 PM CDT up reply actions
Could you imagine
A position player pitching… and getting the win. It would be A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
REWIND YOURSELF!
Remember
The last game of the year in 2009, where Larussa had used up both of his catchers and had someone else catch the extra innings (because Hoffmann blew the save)?
REWIND YOURSELF!
Ok, I'm turning it off.
I’ve only turned the game on at two points, and I had to watch the Cardinals tie the game each time.

I can't see how the Rangers will win.
with a bullpen that’s got nerves of 250 year old glass. They’re gonna have to blow up the cardinals and have a 5+run lead going into the 9th. I envision a very loose Cardinals team playing with house money and arrogantly unveiling a World Series Banner against Milwaukee next year, rubbing salt, dirt, and herpes in old wounds.
wither way
those arrogant pieces of shit are gonna have at least one banner to unveil against the Brewers. Who made the damn schedule anyways? Why did they feel obligated to throw the Brewers under the bus like that. We lost, why add the humiliation of opening at those asshole’s house next year? It just cements my mind that MLB has an agenda and didn’t want the Brewers to advance.
All the questionable calls, Gallardo getting squeezed for a month straight, all of our pitchers getting squeezed in the playoffs, and the way the announcers just gobbed on Arizona all series long.
I still get angry when I think of Dotel v Braun. First pitch low and away, ball. Second pitch, around Braun’s ankles, strike. Third pitch, slightly higher but still a strike. I mean seriously. that at bat should have started 3-0.
And all those times we got pinched with 2 outs on what should have been strike 3, only to give up a crucial rbi hit. if the game was called evenly, we would be in the Series, I’ve no doubts.
