Milwaukee Brewers Tracking Poll Show 66% Of Voters Still Support Decision To Start Greinke On Short Rest
This week's poll was open from Monday afternoon through Tuesday, and received 327 responses. Here are some notable results:
- Even though the results didn't back it up, 66% of voters still think starting Zack Greinke on short rest on Sunday was the correct decision. Just 6% think it was the wrong move.
- 30% of voters still think Casey McGehee should get at least one start in the NLDS. 63% think he should not.
- Assuming he's not needed to pitch in a possible NLDS Game 5, 85% of voters think Yovani Gallardo should start Game 1 of the NLCS.
- Ron Roenicke's approval rating has climbed all the way up to 89%, up 9% from last week and 15% from two weeks ago.

If Greinke
gets the loss last Sunday – or even if the Brewers ultimately lose – those 66%/6% results are probably reversed.
The use of the word “still” shows what the administrator’s vote is. NBD, just pointing out the obvious. Despite JHJ’s airmail last night, I believe Casey should continue collecting splinters from the bench!
Last night's result
probably would affect these numbers too, if we took a vote again today.

I think you're misreading it.
KL is pointing out that despite Greinke having a bad start, the majority of the people still were fine with it.

Oh, you're right.
I’m all messed up, I was thinking the poll was before. Well, at least we know that people voted honestly. Greinke is such a head case that he gets and deserves the extra attention. He didn’t erase their chances for a win (just his own) and he’s on proper rest (ie. not short) for whenever they need him again. If RRs approval rating is based on in-game stuff, it will always ebb and flow with the teams record. At this point, I think that the approval ratings were somewhat of a “end of regular season” rating. Which accounts for the spike.
As for my ‘still’ comment, I stand by it. KL believes, based on what was written in the next sentence, that it’s laughable that anyone thinks McGehee should start (I agree, btw). It is proper to use ‘still’ if the same poll was given last week and this is an addendum to it (a la the mgr, GM, coach ratings). Just a grammar thing. No big deal, not trying to pick a fight.
The other part of the 89% approval may be that RR addressed the need to change one of (ie. both) his left-side infielders in the postseason and actually did it! Now, less than 1/3 of us think that that change was unnecessary, it’s more than it should be, but closer to correct than not, imo.
If the managers approval was based on in game stuff
it would be “Do not approve” week after week after week. It is mostly based on how the team is playing for most people as opposed to anything the manager actually does.
Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.
In the previous poll
we were asked “Who should be the Brewers’ primary third baseman in the playoffs?”. At the time 22% thought McGehee should.

Can we all stop asking questions about Casey McGehee?
The answers are making me too sad…

is in the question. Sadness all around!
Not sure
which is the more disappointing position this year, SS or 3B.
Getting ahead of myself here but,
If they don’t sink the $ into resigning Prince, they’d better sink it into a sure-handed SS and 3B that both can at least hit .280 and get on base. That and a replacement 1b with a good glove and some pop in his bat.
I think what will eventually do this team in is the lack of hitting depth in their line-up. Right now it’s one of Hart, Braun, Fielder or Hairston pulling the load offensively. Weeks doesn’t seem to be back to his form from early in the year and it’s dragging down the offense.
3B is far more disappointing.
Only because we had a good idea Yuni would be almost as bad as he was. I though McGehee would be worse than last year but nowhere near this bad.
Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.
