regarding "long term"
I said “yes” the Brewers should attempt to sign Marcum and Greinke to “long term” contracts. But only if 3 year deals are
considered “long term.”
For that same reason
I answered “undecided”, because I didn’t know what “long term” meant.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.
Think the Brewers took care of the long term deals they needed to
With Weeks, Hart, Yo and Braun.
That’s a good core, there’s no need to rush and commit further payroll long term.
Get a ife broseph
Personally, I disagree
A small market team wants as big of a core as they can get so that when they big free agents go away we still have a team. Plus if we want a player now we can always trade for him we basically go free agent, contract extension, or bust.

I think your "core" thought
only works if you are talking about pre arb players. As was the case in 08 with the Brewers.
Having a bigger core is great for any team, but a small market team can only afford so many big contracts, no matter how team “friendly” they may be. The Brewers are right not at about capacity for multi year, big money as they can be. Adding another piece to that puzzle could do huge long term damage to the prospects for the future..
As if this post had anyone wondering, I voted no to extend Marcum, and although it may be a good idea to give an extension to Greinke for baseball sake, economically it doesnt make a lot of sense.
For Shaun, a one-year deal is perfect.
When you consider 2013’s stronger FA class, his stock will not rise to the level it would have during a lull like this.
I for some reason want to call these Lackey Years, now, even though it’s technically CJ’s year.
Regarding a trade, I do not take a stance one way or another right now. If we can get a slugger and a slick infielder, that would be great. I like your Alonso/Cozart scenario, but now I wonder if that was in reference to Greinke, not Marcum.
Walt and Doug are good GM buddies, though, right? Marcum for Yonder and Mozart’s SonatasCozart!
