ROLLINS targeted, Furcal or anybody else besides Yuni?
J-Roll next on Brewer's wish-list
So several options have been discussed in regards to the need at SS, such as Clint Barmes, Rafael Furcal, Jose Reyes (yeah right..) and Jimmy Rollins. Doug is quoted in the story saying he plans on speaking with Jimmy's agent soon. Whats everyone's opinion on the likelihood that someone that doesn't have a Y for their first initial starts at SS next year?
Also, Aramis Ramirez has been touted as a possible power replacement for Prince Fielder, but we remain stuck until we see what happens with him. Realistic to see him as a Brewer?

Damn, I was hoping they were targeting Henry Rollins to play SS.

Re: your question
I really don’t think Yuni will be back. Melvin is just posturing I think; it’s not a ringing endorsement when the gist of your comment is “everybody knows he is horrible but he’s not as horrible as his many critics say.”
Any of Furcal/Rollins/A-Ram would be fantastic.

It will be a sign that the universe is dissolving if Yuni is signed to a contract.

Depends what the contract is for
Maybe they want somebody to permenately to wear the Chirzo outfit next season
I've been saying this since August, but I think for the right deal Jack Wilson makes a ton of sense
over his career, he’s had similar numbers to Barmes (he just didn’t have a huge year last year like Barmes did). In fact, Barmes has 10.5 bWAR over 9 seasons, and Wilson has 15.5 bWAR over 11 seasons, so 1.16 vs 1.4 WAR annually.
If you just look at the last 3 years, Barmes has been worth 6.2 WAR and Wilson has been worth 3.9 WAR, but that includes a 2011 WAR of 2.9 for Barmes, which IMO he has little chance of repeating looking at his career numbers.
Wilson is only 1 year older than Barmes is too, he just has more playing time because he’s been in the league longer.
Wilson on a 2 year, 5.5 million deal would make a lot of sense to me. He’d contribute just a little less than Barmes, and be paid a whole lot less.
"been in the league longer" should be "entered the league younger"
I have no idea what I was thinking when I typed something so obvious.
Oh, no, Doug!
“You have to be a good shortstop to play over 150 games,” Melvin said. “If you’re not that good, you’re not playing that many games.”

Can someone please show Doug Melvin the definition of the term "cognitive dissonance"?
This is a serious case of it.
We must help him accept something he can't change! Ooops.
Actually, no, that’s not right…
We need to help him to not accept something he can change!
(Do you think gms and other FO personnel develop some sort of Yuni addiction, like with cigarettes? It takes clubs awhile to get rid of him.)
FanGraphs should consider a venue for a Gallery Night... they could even serve a cake with a Win Expectancy Chart of the 7/7/11 Brewers' game etched in the frosting, and 7-up. Oh, yeah - and t-shirts that say "SABR-Friday." I'm totally there.

Are those all DM quotes?
Because I don’t recall him ever saying those top three.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.
He didn't.
But cwolf brought up cognitive dissonance. The model works, because Doug is thinking “he’s all kinds of awful.” Or hearing it…
If the model doesn’t work, hope it cheered cwolf up. He’s seemed rather down ever since the playoffs ended!

Just like everything you ever post
You’re about two levels deeper than I can figure out. Sorry, I didn’t get it. I assume the colors represented something, but I couldn’t put it together.
Thank you for the attempt to cheer me up, though.
I demand that the Brewers sign this Japanese SS, Hiroyuki Nakajima.

Different guy.
But I want this Nakajima, too. He could threaten pitchers at the plate…get that thing approved as a bat!

I'd like to make an offer to everyone;
You can use the Tom Haudricourt Flag any time you wish. For instance, if there is a new update, you can have a Prince of Darkness warning.
The link should work as an embedding code. It’s sort of like the Plunk Everyone Beacon.
I have nothing else to do.
