Arizona Fall League Rising Stars Game Open Thread
UPDATE: Jed Bradley pitched a scoreless, hitless seventh inning, with two strikeouts. Would have been a perfect frame if not for an error.
The center of the baseball universe tonight is in Surprise, Arizona, where top prospects in the Arizona Fall League compete tonight for exhibition supremacy in the league's Rising Stars game at 7.
Jed Bradley is the only Brewer on the AFL West roster, and he's one of eleven pitchers. He's one of just two lefties, though: Starter Danny Hultzen is the other. I don't know if that improves his chances of getting into the game or not, but you'd assume it does.
At any rate, the game is being broadcast live on MLB Network. Watch it there, discuss it here.

Announcers are treating it like the wind is aiding these home runs.
But both I’ve seen looked plenty well struck.
Now that's great tasting chicken!
Gerrit Cole's getting hit around a ton
And yes, Danny Hultzen’s pretty damn good. Mid-90s fastball too :O
Go ahead, make my day.
Which kind of facial hair is it?

Watching Guilmet pitch is pretty interesting.
I’ve seen him compared to three different weird arm-angled pitchers and a pitching machine already.
Now that's great tasting chicken!
I've been somewhat underwhelmed by this game to this point, but watching Jeffress strike out Bryce Harper was fun.

Nope, End of the 6th and the West side still has six pitchers who haven't played including Bradley.

Bradley gets two grounders, but the shortstop boots one.
Thanks for getting him ready for the big leagues, guys.

If you're somewhat dimwitted and loud, a low attendance venue like the AFL is the perfect place to maximize your impact.
Now that's great tasting chicken!
Well he looked pretty good, not sure if he can consistently get out AA/AAA guys yet though
Might need a full year in the minors next season.
Grillax people
His command wasn't great. And breaking stuff was off and on for each hitter.
Just an initial assessment, I’m not writing a scouting report or anything.

He's 21 years old and just starting pro baseball
Of course he needs a full year in the minors.
Get a ife broseph
Bradley threw his fastball 91-94 mph and worked the corners nicely. I thought the slider had a lot of bite to it. Didn’t see him throw any curveballs or changeups.
I’m certainly not a scout or anything close, but I thought he looked alright.
Hmmm.... you watched baseball on tv and formed an opinion...
… sounds like you’re an associate scout to me.

Believe it or not but I was offered the Orioles GM job after Peter Angelos read my post.

Quotes from Kevin Goldstein on twitter:

#Brewers RHP Jed Bradley was a very impressive inning. Two Ks and commanded the fastball and offspeed stuff.
@Kevin_Goldstein Kevin Goldstein
Pro body, VG stuff, frustratingly inconsistent. RT @82crew: @Kevin_Goldstein Take on Bradley?
And Bradley is done.
We knew there wasn’t much chance he’d get a second inning, but that’s official now.
Now that's great tasting chicken!
