The only problem for him (relating to your question)
Is that the two teams who are showing the most interest are in 2 to 3 year rebuilds.
His contract is probably going to be for at least 7 years, so it probably doesnt matter which of them he signs with right now (Cubs or Mariners) because he will still be with them when they become competitive.
He didnt sign the best agent in baseball to play for the best team, he signed with Scott Boras to get the best deal.
Prince is a tough guy to assume anything about, one way or another.
But I’m still going to take a guess, and say he’d love to hit at Wrigley (assuming both teams offer him desirable years/$$).
Then again – I’m drawn to the idea of him in Seattle, where The Kid played! I’m not really sold on that, though. Just because he uses some of Ken Griffey’s bats, and just because he worships him and they played video games etc… doesn’t separate that from strict business.
Line-up next year;
Ichiro
Gutierrez
Ackley
Carp
Smoak (Fielder)
Olivo
Seager
Trayvon Robinson
Brendan Ryan
1.King Felix
2.Pineda
3.Vargas
4. (I don’t know anything about Beavan!)
5. – is it possible Hultzen could be ready?
So, Cali – I think Prince in the line-up as it stands right now draws a metaphor; the slugger surrounded by some paper replicas. Who are some prospects you would envision coming up to the big leagues, and what types of trades would make sense? They desperately need some texture!
FanGraphs should consider a venue for a Gallery Night... they could even serve a cake with a Win Expectancy Chart of the 7/7/11 Brewers' game etched in the frosting, and 7-up. Oh, yeah - and t-shirts that say "SABR-Friday." I'm totally there.

I'm not a fan of Beavan being part of that rotation, either.
Is a competitive team by 2014 feasible? Jack Z. will have had 5 years of drafting a bunch of robust/stocky hitters by then!
(And Hultzen)

Hultzen might be up by September
I think they need slasher types to win in that park offensively. You always need a big bat somewhere in the lineup of course though.;
Fielder would have hit 7 more HR in 2011 if he had been a Cub, and agree that Wrigley is the best destination for him (outside of Dallas).
I like the 1995 line-up : )
The re-plays are on mlb a lot. I think Dave Niehaus made the Mariners sound like winners up until he passed away.
*if Ichiro were a few years younger with 4 more yrs. on his contract, I think he and Prince would be super-heroes.

The Mariners seemed odd to me
But then again they’re owned by Nintendo, and his dad used to play for the Hanshin Tigers, so maybe there’s an international marketing angle there.
Mark Attanasio is the best.
With Prince it is all about the Money he has been telling us that for years
He would go play in Japan if that is where he could get the biggest pay check
"It's a joke. It's all a joke.

I'm beginning to think there may be a chance to get him back
at a cheap price, for just one more year, especially if we cut K-Rod and free up a few more bucks. The market for him this year is pretty much nonexistent, and if he’s going to be taking less, he might as well do it in a familiar setting.
Packers: Working on a dynasty.
Blackhawks: Taking care of business as usual.
Badgers:Back-to-back B1G Champions!
Brewers: Move along, nothin' to see here.
Don't get your hopes up too much
Even if they cut K-Rod, they’d still not free up enough money to pay Fielder what he got last season… let alone what he’d get from just about any other team in MLB. You don’t think the Rangers would give him $20M for one year if Fielder is willing to take a one year deal?
There’s a market for Fielder… just probably not what Boras is asking. Fielder may end up taking less than what he was expecting, but it’s not going to be so low that he’d opt for a 1 yr deal.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.

WAS Nationals
I’ve assumed since about June that the Nationals would go after Fielder considering Rizzo’s history with Boras and that the Nationals could compete ASAP with the Phillies getting older by the minute and the recent acquisition of Gio Gonzalez.
Dream scenario would have Fielder going to the Nationals then Melvin trading for LaRoche. LaRoche would be good for 25 HR in Miller Park and something close to 100 RBIs while providing a glove far superior to Fielder’s and likely much, much better than Gamel’s.
I’m also still holding out hope for a Carlos Pena signing.
For Your Question ...
I think he will get $$$ and the chance to win as he is most likely to go to WAS who is only maybe 1-2 years away or TEX who will be ready to compete ASAP. Only teams I’ve even heard rumors of where he wouldn’t immediately compete would be BAL and SEA. If he were to go to CHI I would think his addition to the lineup might make the Cubs competitive immediately in what should be a weak NL Central with the departure of Pujols and the looming Braun suspension.
No way does adding fielder make the Cubs competitive next year IMO
Unless they plan on magically rebuilding their pitching staff int the next 2 months.
I have no concept.
