How will the Brewers replace the runs lost due to Prince Fielder leaving due to FA?

Well that's a nice looking graphic
But I don’t know what’s more ridiculous: his suggestion that the Brewers could sign Rollins, Ramirez, AND Lee, or BtC claiming they can’t afford any of them.

They could obviously afford Derrek Lee.

Yes
But as I mentioned to TC in the other thread, that doesnt leave a lot left over for mid season moves, which is something that Melvin likes to do.
I figure Ramirez is going to get a Reyes type deal but for fewer years, and Rollins is probably looking at $10 mm plus per year.
Lee maybe $8 million or so, a little less maybe, but then you have $6 million to pay Yuni and fill up your bullpen spots. Possible, but imo, not worth the price.
So your method of payroll calculation
is to start with an already low estimate of available payroll and deduct from that an imaginary number to save for a mid-season acquisition? (Ignoring, of course, the fact that ownership has always been willing to consider adding money mid-year.)
And the result, shockingly, is that the Brewers don’t have enough money to sign anybody and will have to make do with internal “improvements”.
It’s a beautiful snowy day—come out from under the bridge.

If $13 million is your true amount to spend
And you have to save $5 or so for mid season moves, a Derreck Lee contract eats up every penny you have to spend. At the very least sucks up about $7 million or so.
Why spend that kind of money when you can expect Gamel to approach the production that Lee can give you, but for the league minimum.
His method of anything is:
1. Pick desired outcome.
2. Assume facts necessary to reach that outcome.
3. Abuse purpose or utility of statistic or other seemingly objective calculation to move fro assumed facts to desired outcome, if necessary.
4. Announce repeatedly that desired outcome is nearly inevitable.
5. Blame luck or stupidity of Brewers when wrong.

Good old BtC peeing in our Cheerios again
Keep it up. It worked out really well for the Brewers last year.
Also, given the final standings this season and the 2nd wildcard likely upcoming the Brewers don’t need to replace all of Fielder’s production. They could win 3-5 fewer games this year and still qualify for the 1 game wildcard playoff.

Rollins/Ramirez/Lee would end up costing quite a bit *more* than Fielder...
If Plush had to pick Wearwolf or Vampire, I'm a Wearwolf!
Most likely, they can only afford either Rollins or Ramirez.
Assuming some of the commenters are right over at Beyond the Box Score, if Ramirez and Rollins both are over 10M, Rollins might be a better upgrade. I was merely looking at best case scenario,. =)
I think it would be close... at least for next season
I doubt anyone is going to give Lee a big contract because of his injury issues and age… probably $5M is a more realistic ceiling. If Rollins and Ramirez each get $10M/yr, that brings it to $25M… right around what Fielder will likely get.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.
That was what I was thinking too.
Well, for Derrek Lee around 5M give or take. I would agree with some of you tho, that Gamel does seem like a better idea for 1B. I’ve updated the graphic to show that. =)
I find it hard to believe that a guy like Prince who is all about the money
Would want to play in Canada and pay Canadian taxes on half of his pay check but I guess is they pull enough dump trucks full of money in front of your house you go anywhere :)
