The BCB Spring Training Countdown, #3: The Huntsville Stars
Yesterday we started the spring training countdown with John Sickels' Baseball Prospect Book 2011. Follow that link to sign up for your chance to win it.
Now, though, it's time to unveil today's giveaway, courtesy of the Huntsville Stars!
The Stars are the first of three minor league affiliates we'll be featuring over the next three days. In 2011, it's possible they'll feature 5 of our community's top 11 prospects (Kyle Heckathorn, Kentrail Davis, Cody Scarpetta, Logan Schafer and Erik Komatsu). 2010 was also a pretty good year talent-wise for the Stars as Brett Lawrie, Lorenzo Cain, Caleb Gindl, Jonathan Lucroy, Brandon Kintzler, Amaury Rivas and Mark Rogers all wore Huntsville's uniform at one point or another.
Today, we're giving you a chance to own a small piece of history from the 2010 team. The Stars are giving away a ball signed by members of that team to one lucky reader.
For a chance to win, all you have to do is comment on this post. I'll accept entries until 6 pm Central time on Tuesday, at which point I'll randomly select a winner.
Good luck, and thanks again to Babs Rogers and the Stars for making this possible!
By the way, the Stars are also looking for a 2011 theme song. Click here to read more about that contest.

Star Power!
Too close for missiles, I’m switching to Ueck.
Logan Schafer
Centerfield is one of those positions not necessarily up for grabs in spring training, but a Brett Gardner type showing by Logan Schafer might spin some Brewer heads.
I like that Schafer walks a considerable amount, but it sure would be nice to see a stolen base percentage higher than 57%.

Last time I was in Huntsville
… I was way to young to know about the stars. And even though it sounds like their stadium is a hole, I’d still love to go see them play

Ready and able to turn any discussion into one about Russell Oles Branyan...
I got nothing.
Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.
Have you seen my (stars) baseball……

2011
Let’s hope for some guys to really step it up this year in the farm system. It would be nice to have some options to bring guys up from AAA if there are any injuries mid-season. Or if Carlos Gomez is hitting .195 with a .195 OBP.
I'm looking forward to the Rising Stars game.
Seeing some of the survivors of the system purge will be fantastic.

Hopefully the stars can show us the farm system isn’t completely depleted!

I predict (based on nothing really)
That our minor league system will look a little better as the year goes on.
I’m hoping some guys step it up this year and start turning some heads.
For your health!

I was just in Huntsville on business
No one seems to know who the Stars are, which made me sad. Couldn’t find a shirt to save my life in the airport (about the only time I had to shop). Had to settle for some space ice cream… Hope they send me back down in the summer so I can catch a game!
looking for a nice prize.

Thanks for setting this all up KL
And thanks to the Stars for making it possible.
