Anatomy of a Fantasy Draft part 2: The update
You can see the previous post here about my crap team from last year in a keeper league. I figured I owed you guys an update. Here goes:
I was forced to toss Tsuyoshi back in the pot since he does not have MLB eligibility and is still considered a rookie. I replaced him with Johan Santana, who I still think will give me very above average stats for half the year and allow me to bring up Jennings or Chisenhall or Wallace or whoever I draft who will break camp with the team this year (hopefully Tsuyoshi if I can get him).
I had to wait 18 more picks to get to the next round for me, and still needed a middle infield spot, another starter, or whoever. Jurrjens was still on the board, but people are scared off by his knee injury, so I think I could wait on him. I had to fill that MI spot this time around, and Ryan Rayburn was already gone. So I went with Yunel Escobar's production in Toronto. He won't steal bases or hit for power, but he will score a lot of runs in that Toronto lineup with a AVE that won't kill me.
My next pick, I decided to go with a guy who has potential to be a keeper in Ike Davis. The mets aren't in the best park, but Davis is young, strong, and will be a decent guy for my bench/UTIL spot if I get injuries.
18 more picks later, and there is Jurrjens still sitting there. So I snapped him up. I realized that my team did not have much speed, but I also realized that I could use another outfielder or 2. So Coco Crisp was my next pick. The A's run a lot more than they used to, and Coco had 32 steals in his 99 chances with being on base on 1st or second (Walks + Hits - 3Bs - HRs). This pace is ridiculous (1 steal every 9 PAs), but a 45+ season is not out of the realm of possibility IF he gets 450 PAs by staying healthy.
Now I'm filling up my bench. I could use another MI, another C (Posada is still on the board), another OF, and a couple more starters and possible save vultures, but I'm thinking so far I'm out of the basement and back in to middle of the pack.

Juurjens lastd that long!
For a guy with a knee risk rather than an arm one,
I think you did well with Jurrjens…..getting him so late.
If Jack Cust is in left field, think triple.
