Glass half empty: Zero useful players still in the Brewers organization.
Glass half full: Helped net us Zack Greinke, Shaun Marcum, and Nyjer Morgan. Nyjer Morgan, people!
Interesting to look at
You can’t do too much better than the first two picks.
You can’t do too much worse than the next 4

I too like this way of looking at things
and thnk Bruce Said’s first draft wasn’t a complete failure, unlike his next 2
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

Frederickson
He further solidifies my feeling that as a general rule (this probably applies to all professional sports), teams should avoid wasting high picks on “Workout Wonders”. He was basically seen as a 4th/5th round project pick based on tools and track record a few months before the draft, then shot up the draft boards of a few teams with some reportedly impressive private workouts. He would have made a good high upside candidate about 100 or so picks after we took him, but as it is this was just a wasted pick from the start.
That said, I’m still kind of surprised that we’ve given up on him this soon. Chances are slim that he’ll turn it around at this point, but I guess I’m not sure what the downside of keeping him around is. It’s not like we’ve got a system loaded with prospects that would be blocked by him.

I'm assuming they saw him in Spring Training and he was still terrible
So he’d be taking someone’s spot in the system. He’s 24 years old, at some point you have to cut your losses.

I believe Max Walla (2009 second round pick) is a similar story. Showed a ton of power in the pre-draft workout and nothing afterward. But yeah, never really liked the Frderickson pick either.
My goodness.

That pick was even weirder IMO
At least you can try and add to stuff to a guy who throws in the high 90s. Teach him one other good pitch and he’s a bullpen option.
If the guy with monster power in BP can’t hit a breaking ball when he gets to the minors, you’re pretty much out of luck.

I disagree
What about Pedro Serano? He couldn’t hit a curve ball for anything, but he the fastball very much. However, it wasn’t until I relinquished his voodoo ways that he was able to finally get ahold of a curveball.
Just sayin’….
