VIDEO: Ryan Braun Ignores Your Stop Sign
I'm still working on this morning's Mug, but I wanted to get this video up so you can see it before MLB inevitably takes it down:
(thanks to Dave Brown of Yahoo for the tip)

Right
If he ran out that pop fly, he would’ve been on second and scored easily on Fielder’s double.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.
I think that's exactly why he ran through it
knowing that he screwed up on the last play, trying to make up for it.
Who actually gets to second on pop ups?
Of course the player ends up at first. Is any hitter every thinking that ball is going to drop? They see that same play made over and over again maybe hundreds of times with no incident.
Sedar's been sending everybody this year
I wonder why he wanted to hold Braun up on that one
Get a ife broseph
Because Braun only looks fast
The reason he goes from 1st to 3rd on a single so often is because they’re actually doubles hit by Fielder and McGehee who run with pants full of wet cement.
Braun's actually pretty fast
But I don’t know why Braun looking fast would be a reason for Sedar to hold him up.

He was holding him up because Braun probably should have been out
the throw beat him but was just a little off and braun made a good slide

Right
But he’s been sending everybody this year, even Prince and McGehee when they were long shots to score, that’s why I was wondering.
The throw was pretty good, but it would have needed to be perfect to beat him, I don’t know if that means Braun “should” have been out.

Maybe RR didn't like all the close plays at home
Particularly since it resulted in Plush getting dinged up.

I really hope not
My faith in RR would dip a little bit if he didn’t realize close plays at the plate could result in injuries when the season started.

Don't know about that.
I think it was a really good slide that kept Ryan safe. It looks like the throw clearly beats him, he was just aware enough to slide in underneath it on the infield side of the plate.
Eye of the beholder of course
I thought the throw was nearly perfect, just a foot off and Braun still beat it (you factor in Brauns athletic ability and agility with the slide when sending him).
If the only way a runner is out is with an absolutely perfect throw, I think that’s a good risk to take. Especially in Braun’s case where the bottom of the order was coming up.

I think the catcher was out of position
if he were more in front of the plate to receive the ball I think he could have gotten a better tag down.
Of course like you said eye of the beholder and what not

He was out of position because of the throw
When the catcher first appears in the video, he’s actually in a position to block the plate, but the throw causes him to move to his left.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.
That could be why.
I think he was a overaggressive in implementing the new aggressive baserunning mentality to the tune of several ill-advised outs. I think he’s consciously trying to draw it back now. Either way, that was a no-brainer stop sign to put up. If the guy wants to run through it, let him, but you can’t send him when the play’s going to be that close.
I had just assumed
that Sedar was universally considered the worst 3b coach in the league at judging when to hold/pass the runners. Doesn’t everybody else feel that way? Perhaps it’s just me, but I hope more brewers take Braunie’s lead in disregarding him.
Everybody says that
whenever their 3B coach sends a guy that gets thrown out. He’s been a 3B coach for all of, what, three weeks? Hardly enough time to assign “universal consideration.”

Plus
Isn’t that distinction (worst 3B coach) currently being held by Dave Anderson? At least Rangers fans thinks so.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.
Is there ever a good 3B coach?
They’re like umpires. If they’re good, you don’t notice them. The only time you notice them is when they do something that pisses you off.
My goodness.

This needs to be .gif-ified.
Ryan Braun: He loves it. -- Four pitchers in history with 8.5+ WAR and <250 IP seasons: Greg Maddux (age 29), Pedro Martinez (age 28), Roger Clemens (age 27), Zack Greinke (age 25).
I think Sedar was just pissed
because he didn’t get a chance to try out that new fist bump he’s been working on for Braun.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.
I think it was
“Ryan, I believe the chances of you being thrown out at home in this situation require me to insist that you stop at third base. Oh, nevermind. Good luck on your attempt at home.”
I may have missed something though

IN YOUR FACE GARGAMEL!!!
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

Ryan Braun running through third base to get home happens all the time
We’ve just never seen it during a baseball game
I was disappointed with the lack of hookers but the pancakes were delightful
I always forget what all the bases are
I guess I just like to hit dingers.
wait…that came out wrong

Just a thought
was it a bluff? Look at where Braun it at :07, it looks like he’s touching the bag or just beyond it. Even at :10, Sedar could’ve kept yelling and brought him back, but he put his hands down and let Braun go. Maybe he realized Braun had a shot to score and changed his mind in those seconds, but it wouldn’t be surprising for this team to mix up the signs.
Point of no return
There’s a point well before you get the the base where even if you try to stop, you’ll over-run the bag and have to scramble back. If Ryan’s running top-speed, Sedar can see that he’s planning on running right through the stop sign. Braun might not have even been looking at him because he’d already made up his own mind. Whether or not he thought Ryan had a chance to score, the more immediate realization Sedar had was that nothing he said was going to change Braun’s mind.
Is Braun even looking at him at that point?
If Braun isn’t paying attention to him, why would he continue yelling?
