Details of deferred money in Braun's deal
It look more favourable for the Brewers than 1st might of been thought with atleast $18million to be deferred for 2022-31 interest free. Even the signing bonus is a more managable since it is over 4 years 2012-15.

That is great. Very team friendly.
Salary by year:
2011 – $4.0 million
2012 – $8.5 million
2013 – $11.0 million
2014 – $12.5 million
2015 – $14.5 million
2016 – $15.0 million
2017 – $15.0 million
2018 – $15.0 million
2019 – $15.0 million
2020 – $13.0 million
2021 – ($4.0 million)
2022 – $1.8 million
2023 – $1.8 million
2024 – $1.8 million
2025 – $1.8 million
2026 – $1.8 million
2027 – $1.8 million
2028 – $1.8 million
2029 – $1.8 million
2030 – $1.8 million
2031 – $1.8 million
Even if he falls off a cliff at some point, paying $18.0 million of the contract over 10 years not only significantly decreases the price of the contract (due to inflation) but it also helps in the context of a sports team because $1.8 million has very little impact on the total payroll or the team’s ability to field a winning team. By the late 2020s that’s going to be a drop in the bucket in terms of the team’s total payroll.

I don’t see how you can criticize that at all, except by being unrealistically pessimistic (for the effective operation of a baseball team) regarding the possibility of injuries.
