Brief Sporcle quiz for anyone bored on the off day. 25-man roster constructed from the best single season rWAR (Baseball Reference) leaders in Milwaukee baseball history. 5+ GS in that season required to qualify for a position, designated hitter based on batted runs/OPS+, bullpen based on ERA+ for pitchers with 40+ IP.

Some tricky answers, and one infuriating selection for the bench (beating a more beloved Milwaukee Brewer by a couple runs above replacement, according to rWAR)

Holy hell

Either that is impossible, or I’m a bad fan.

I got stuck at 4.

Should’ve been 17. I thought of someone, but then thought no way. But I was wrong.

My goodness.

For anyone trying the quiz:

the answers are from Brewers and Braves.

I wish I had read this comment before trying

only got 10 but I think I would of got a couple more knowing this.
Also I have just tried another Spocle Quiz which is alot harder than it 1st looks. It is asking you to name the highest paid player on each team

only got 23, should have gotten 28.

Pirates were by far the most difficult.

And that was after I realized it included Braves players.

Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.

Sorry, should have specificed it was Brewers/Braves

(and one 1878 Milwaukee Grays player; didn’t want to disappoint all the Sam Weaver fans!)

Podsednik beat Braun for the last bench outfielder spot by a few runs on the strength of his supposedly amazing defense, which may draw the entirety of rWAR into question.

Ryan Braun: He loves it. -- Four pitchers in history with 8.5+ WAR and <250 IP seasons: Greg Maddux (age 29), Pedro Martinez (age 28), Roger Clemens (age 27), Zack Greinke (age 25).

As long as we're revealing answers

Anyone else really surprised to see Turnbow on this list?

My goodness.

by BrewHaHeather on May 13, 2011 2:03 PM CDT up reply actions

Not really

He had a really good 2005 season.

Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.

really screwed me up with those Braves. Thanks for the heads up.

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
