I'm glad the fan had a good experience with Braun
I just think talking about religion with someone whose mom happens to have been born Jewish, but doesn’t himself follow the Shabbat is a little silly.
I know you don’t want to gush about baseball all over him – in which case, I dunno…maybe a conversation about Remetees, Marisa Miller, Brett Lawrie’s sister, MMA, wrestling, football or stock car races?
I'm guessing
that his non-Jewishness is why he laughed when he said “Thanks”. I wouldn’t be surprised if he found the “Hebrew Hammer” nickname ridiculous too.

Braun ain't actually Jewish?

I don't think
he follows the faith, but Jews have that weird thing that “If your mother is Jewish, then you’re automatically counted as Jewish, regardless of what you believe.” Basically he’s ethnically half-Jewish and it’s on the side that Jewish people (and, well, Nazis) consider to “count”.

Actually
his dad is Jewish, not his mom. So technically, according to Jews, he’s not Jewish.
My goodness.

Bah.
I knew that, don’t know why I said the opposite in that post.

Wrong
The go-to discussion topic for any Brewers player is burritos.
Ryan Braun: He loves it. -- Four pitchers in history with 8.5+ WAR and <250 IP seasons: Greg Maddux (age 29), Pedro Martinez (age 28), Roger Clemens (age 27), Zack Greinke (age 25).
So the story about Mark Kotsay taking a stroller out of his trunk didn't make the BCB cut?
