Does anyone know how much money we will have to spend this offseason considering the payroll this year and where it is right now for next year?
With Prince and Yuni one would believe that we would have some money to spend, is it crazy to suggest us spending it on Jose Reyes? I've posted the potential lineup below - which I think may be a more well rounded and better lineup maybe then this year - but what is the general consensus as to how much Reyes will get a year? Do you think this is a better lineup?
1. Jose Reyes SS
2. Nyjer Morgan CF
3. Rickie Weeks 2B
4. Ryan Braun LF
5. Corey Hart RF
6. Mat Gamel 1B
7. Jonathan Lucroy C
8. Casey McGehee 3B
9. Pitcher
My biggest point is that this is a better team for Ron Roenicke. It is well known that RR's mentality to be aggressive, run the base paths and a moderately stronger small ball approach. In addition this lineup may be most objected to because of Rickie in the 3 hole but I would argue that it is a more natural position for him to play. He has all the tools to be a top 5 2B and with players getting on base in front of him and Braun protecting him, he would be the starting 2B in the All Star game come next year (potentially giving us 3 starters).
1B is much, much more easy to replace then SS and there in lies the difference.
