Makes room for Jose Reyes

Unless we're getting 3 Reyeses, I think there was room before.
I don’t think anything has changed since there were two spots open earlier in the week.
Now that's great tasting chicken!
Yeah, but this move was specifically to make room for Reyes.

A shitload more than the Brewers could possibly offer.

Which doesn't make too much sense.
If he doesn’t pull the trigger on a trade before the deadline he ends up with nothing but compensation picks. The price tag should at least be one that teams can afford. So I ask again – what is the Mets’ asking price?
I'm sure its some heavy duty prospects.
Look at what we gave up for .5 year of CC

Matt Holliday trade comparisons?
Cards gave up #40 overall prospect in Brett Wallace as well as a Shane Peterson (their 2nd round draft pick the year before), and Clayton Mortenson (AAA starter).
Not sure what the Brewers equivalent would be for that.
Maybe Scooter Gennett, Wily Peralata and Khris Davis = Wallace.
Hunter Morris = Peterson.
Amaury Rivas = Mortenson

I don't really like my equivalents
Wallace was at worst a second-division MLB starter with potential star power. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if none of the 3 Brewer prospects I listed played an MLB game.
I guess my answer is “Don’t think the Brewers have the prospects”

Yeah they don't
I was just funnin’

Me too, just thinking out loud
Just looking at past trades, it seems hard get a star player without giving up a top 100 prospect (of which the Brewers don’t have).

Well, there's only one thing more valuable than prospects
And that’s pitching. We have plenty of right-handed relief, how about a solid prospect like Gamel that they can trade or play, and say… Kameron Loe?
If you're the Mets, and you have an elite SS
And you know you have at least a couple year rebuilding process in front of you, would you be happy with a high-usage RP and a 26 year old AAA guy? I’d rather take my chances in the draft.

It's supposedly a deep draft this year
But draft picks are completely iffy. I’d take the cheap young guys who I know can play.
Gamel isn't a given
Except his potential to be an elite player is likely dimished by being in the minors for so long.
I think you’re valuing Gamel a ton higher than other teams will be valuing him if you think the Mets would be interested in him for Reyes.

Yeah but they'll just get compensation picks when he leaves and is signed as a Type A free agent next year
That’s probably better than what the Brewers have in their system now.

Makes room for Bartolo Colon

He takes up 3 roster spots.
He really needs to go on a diet.

Question about DL pay
If you’re on a major-league minimum salary, and you get sent to the DL, do you collect that rate of pay until you are reactivated and sent down to the minors?
I'd assume so
You continue to accrue service time, so I’m sure you’d get paid too.
