How does the 15-day vs. the 60-day DL work?
I think this is going to be a pretty severe injury with a lot of time off from baseball for Gomez. So questions:
1) Can the 15 day DL be used for players repeatedly? I think yes is the obvious answer.
2) Can the player be placed on the 60 day DL retroactively?
3) Does this effect compensation in anyway with a 60-day DL stint?
I am sure they don’t want to use the 60 day DL because it finish up in September and therefore effecting his playoff eligibility.
