Brewers call up Felipe Lopez, return Eric Farris to Nashville
Hopefully Farris' 15 minutes of fame didn't just expire.
UPDATE: Lopez is starting at second base tonight.

Farris should just rake now at Nashville
with his major league experience.

They brought up Farris for 1 AB just to mock Taylor Green.

speaking of
Kevin Goldstein essentially saying Green is McGehee, but with Caseys struggles there is no reason boy to bring him up. free article at bp, but I am on mobile right now so can’t link it.

haha... I wanna see what 1 day of prorated MLB salary compared to 1 week or 1 month of AAA salary.
Streak Breakers.com
Minimum major league salary is $414k
$414k / 162 = $2555
He probably got a sizeable per diem, as well. Let’s make it at least $2600 for one game in the majors. According to random baseball website, AAA player make at least $2150 / month. So Farris’ one game likely at least doubled his July salary.

Aren't they paid by game appearance?
That’s how football and NBA works. I would be surprised if they’re paid for off-days.

Better than that
He now has MLB service time, and the minor league minimum for some with even one day of MLB service time is ~$65K/year.

Interesting
Sports Illustrated’s Will Carroll (@injuryexpert) on Twitter:
NEVER thought I’d see Lopez back in Milwaukee.
I asked him why he said that, considering Lopez played well for the Crew. His response:
Let’s call it “clubhouse issues.”
I’d never heard anything about this. Anyone?
no it was braddock who slept with harts wife

This is what they were referring to by "sleep disorder"
He’s too busy shagging.
Not sure
Just have Prince stand in the middle of the room and glare at everybody. No more clubhouse issues.

Don't read much of his stuff, so I don't know much about him either way
But he’s a consultant with the Brewers. He might actually know something that’s not public info.

I assuming Melvin needed help with his Fantasy Football team
If they actually hired that guy to help them with the Brewers, I’ll have serious questions about their sanity.

I love his profile on Twitter
I tweet about sports injuries, mostly. Other stuff too, when it catches my attention.
Good luck finding a tweet about sports injuries from the last 12 hrs.

Last one I can find, from Wednesday
Losing Rickie Weeks is the kind of injury that will really test the Brewers’ depth.
Yes it will, Will. Thanks for that.

Someone linked his column
He states that Weeks’ ankle injury may hurt with his lateral movement.
Top notch stuff right there.

Probably doesn’t happen if Macha is still there. RT @injuryexpert NEVER thought I’d see Lopez back in Milwaukee.

@BrewersBar Doug still is.

Maybe the other way around
Maybe Lopez wasn’t a problem, maybe the previous coaching staff treated him like crap. Personally I thought Lopez had great poise and confidence.
I'm guessing that Lopez thought he was getting a contract offer following the '09 season
Perhaps Doug had said that he would be getting one.
When no offer came, he got pissed.

Come on!
You shoud know that in the Brewers lineup, the second baseman must bat fitth. Just like how the left fielder must bat third.
Just be glad Counsell didn’t hit 5th last night.

feel bad for Ferris

best of luck to him

Although my brother is due to go to Finland studying for a year once he gets back from his holiday in Syria and Iraq (seriously). Whereabouts are you headed to?

Yeah
He likes his travel and bizarre destinations. From the little I’ve heard from him Iraq hasn’t been much of a problem (certainly compared to the difficulties getting in and out of Jordan) but that’s partly because he’s in the safer part of Iraq. He’s travelling on his own as well which I’m not sure is the smartest move.
Saying that, he’s been on nights out in both Glasgow and Fife and survived so I’m sure downtown Iraq will be a walk in the park…

I believe that would be a drug called MLB experience
Possibly laced with the ability to play 2B/SS/3B.
If that's the case
Counsell must be a drug czar.

As Counsell steps into the batter's box with a 36 oz bat
“Say hello to my little friend!”
Prince: "Brewers will win the World Series and I'll sign a 10-year deal in Milwaukee"
Braun: "Well, I guess there's just one thing to do then..."
Lopezhad played outfield too, they're neck and neck but Counsell has him beat by 10 years of grizzly veteranness.

Factoring in cost, is Lopez really any worse than the main trade options?
Felipe Lopez (SHB)
Age: 31
Career wOBA: .321
Career 2B UZR/150: -1.0
Career SS UZR/150: -10.8
Jamey Carroll (RHB)
Age: 37
Career wOBA: .318
Career 2B UZR/150: +6.3
Career SS UZR/150: -2.0
Rafael Furcal (SHB)
Age: 33
Career wOBA: .337
Career 2B UZR/150: n/a
Career SS UZR/150: -1.1
Clint Barmes (RHB)
Age: 32
Career wOBA: .304
Career 2B UZR/150: +5.6
Career SS UZR/150: +6.7
"PLUSH ALERT: THERE WAS AN UNTUCKING AT FENWAY!"
Worst defense but he’s adequate at 2B and he’s the youngest of the four. More importantly, he cost nothing.
"PLUSH ALERT: THERE WAS AN UNTUCKING AT FENWAY!"
I think it was a great move. You never know, maybe he figured something out in the minors and he'll go on a tear for us like he did last time he was here.
For your health!
If he hits well in his stint at 2B he can move to SS when Weeks comes back too. Crappy defense but Yuni has a -19.9 UZR/150 this season and can’t hit.
"PLUSH ALERT: THERE WAS AN UNTUCKING AT FENWAY!"
True but I would rather that the went for one of the 4 options you listed
And use Lopez as the primary back-up for 2B-SS-3B with Counsell there if they decide they need more of a defensive option.
I look at Lopez a replacement for Weeks for the month that he is out
The other guys are options to replace Yuni.
Career wOBA .295
Career SS UZR/150 -9.4
According to Brian McTaggart (twitter), the Astros aren't making Barmes available.
Carroll is 37 and Furcal is having a horrendous season. So, meh, I’ll take Lopez for the time being.
